Bocanegra Gooch DeMerrit Cherundolo

Torres, Spector, and Clark off the bench

*No way Bradley starts holden or findley.. a shame

Bradley could start one of those guys. I doubt he will go back to Ricardo Clark after the turd sandwich of a first half he had today, combined with his lack of game time in Germany.

I have the same backline as you, along with Bradley in central midfield. Depending on the match-up, the second central mid should be either Torres or Edu. Against a shitty team like ALgeria, go with Donovan and Dempsey in midfield, with Jozy and a second guy at forward.

Against a better team, put Dempsey up top with Jozy, and use Torres, Edu, and Bradley in central mid with Donovan as an attacking mid (England game, second round match-up, etc).

yeah I could go with putting dempsey up top.. and if it's not working subbing findley in and moving dempsey back to midfield.. I really like torres and holden's creativity, something the U.S. lacks big time

That's what we did in the first half. Against England we would have been down 3 by half.

I don't see why we wouldn't start off as we did in the 2nd half, with either Buddle or Findley paired with Jozy.

Well, you wouldn't have Feilhaber and Clark in the midfield, so it could actually work. Plus Spector and Goodsen wouldn't be in the back four.

Dempsey can play forward, and he has done that very well in England at times. At the end of the day, Buddle and Findley are nowhere near the talent of the other US starters, although Findley showed some nice things today. Let's see how he does against the Aussies though.

I'd love to see 4-1-4-1. Jozy as the lone striker, Edu holding, Bradley and Torres central, Dempsey and Donovan on the wings.

I love how three days ago everyone couldn't understand why Findley was on the roster, now everyone wants him the field.

Bob's a genius.

I'm not totally sold on Findley yet. He looked good today, but we shouldn't forget how lousy he looked against the Dutch. His touch still is erratic and I would be more enthused if he got a goal against the Aussie to cement his starting role.

Sub Holden in for findley move Dempsey up top and sub Clark in for torres if D is needed.

Worrried bout the d. Without boca or gooch we suck. We need both healthy and playing 90 minutes. Can't stand to be stuck wit bornstein or goodson having any pt. Spector is good but boca and dolo are better, mor experienced.

I like Dempsey on the outside running at people and taking them on. Were especially going to need this against England to keep Cole occupied and staying at home to defend because him going forward can be dangerous. Also, Donovan can drop back and help us defend, and on the attack he creates chances. In the back, I don't like Demerit. IMO, this is the best back line with these four together.

WC soccer brings the best out of temperamental sports fans. One pleasing performance equates to loads of optimism. I'd love to see Torres, Holden, and Findley get more time too. I have a feeling at least one of them will get at least 45 minutes in against Australia

Also, minus his goal, Dempsey disappeared when he was droppped to left winger.

vs. England:

Jozy
Dempsey-Edu-Bradley-Torres-Donovan
Boca-goodson-demerit-dolo
howard

our defense better improve quick. Obviously we'll need to beat England by congesting their midfield. Theo Walcott/Lennon/SWP will all be speed threats and will exploit Bocanerga and maybe Cherundolo who have tough times with any quick winger. Torres showed a strong willingness to make hard challenges and seemed to use his body really well. Amazing composure, but just like the caveat above, let's see him do it again before we throw him in the starting 11.
