If you knew this already, good for you. Here is his bio
Got a text from the retired Auburn High head coach who is good friends with Ensminger.

Whoa...does the mean we actually hired a QB coach?

As long as he is not calling the plays, I think it's a good hire. Qb and te experience

What the hell happened in 1998? Offensive coordinator at Clemson, then unemployed for a year and then a high school coach from 2000-2003?
Talk about a career that got derailed. Sounds like the Ed Orgeron story. Anybody know the details?

The good news is he can be used as a QB coach as well.

Oh lord have mercy. It's official, I've become a nega-tiger.
This guy was QB coach at Auburn since 2003. Other than 2004, Jason Campbell's senior year, what in the world makes any of you think this guy would be a good QB coach? And after a fast start his career has been dubious at best since 1998 as an offensive coordinator.
I used to be the kool-aid drinker on this board. Things sure have changed...glad to see you guys can still see the silver lining in anything LSU does.
TE coach isn't very important in the grand scheme of things, but any talk of this guy being QB coach or stealth offensive coordinator just leaves me speechless.
I hope this isn't accurate.

The rant already seems to know everything about Ensminger and most people seem upset (can't recruit, can't develop qb's, blah blah blah). Maybe Miles should have asked the rantards for suggestions prior to hiring somebody.

Sweet. Thanks for the post.

this wasn't a done deal as of last night. Ensminger is being considered along with one other candidate out of the 5 interviewees. Is there word that this is official?

he cant be that bad
JAson Campbell, BTW, had like a different offense every year at Auburn. And he wasnt the brightest bulb to say the least
and he was still a first round pick
from the looks of his bio he has a pretty lenghty resume of being a QB coach at some pretty good schools
A&M, Clemson, UGA, and Auburn.
I dont see how he could hurt Jefferson's development after he seemed so lost last year. Sure he'll be the TE coach, but you have to assume he'll work with the QBs too

Welcome home Steve!
Coach Ensminger and TT longed for the LSU job each of it's last two openings(heard this from an old close friend of his)..glad we got this LSU Tiger back in the fold.

Good call.
I wouldn't think that a guy could land coaching gigs at the likes of Auburn, Tex. A&M, Ga, Clemson, and now LSU without having some ability as a football coach.
Since he played for LSU, was good enough to be hired by a number of pretty good football schools, and has contacts in the Louisiana high coaching circles, I don't see any problem with him becoming the TE's coach at LSU.

If true, lazy hire at best.

I remember him during his QB days at LSU and he was pretty good. I like that Steve is an LSU guy. I'm not clear on why there are so many changes in where he's been coaching, and from college to hs and back again. Is he somebody who will "stick" in one job for very long? A lot of questions in my mind, but I wish him well.
