Didn't Saban burn Travis Daniels redshirt for a play or two vs Tennessee in 2001 ?
yea but that was different. the sec title was on the line. if miles burns fords redshirt over 2 meaningless games then he should be fired.

Yes, but I believe this was in the SEC Championship game. And I want to say it was at the end of the game and in a critical situation.

Left out the part that it was in the SEC Championship game...this would be a meaningless waste of a year of eligibility

If Ridley goes down, what's the alternative?

He's got to get him ready to run just in case he's left with no real choice but to burn it.

It was the SEC Championship game against TN and, I dont remember who was hurt, but, yes, Saban burned it during the game and Daniels knocked away a potential TD pass at the goal line

Was the 2004 Arkansas game meaningful when Craig Steltz played a down or two and blew his redshirt ?

Cut Les some slack. You have to remember that we up for a possible berth in the Cotton Bowl.

I've been hearing through the grapevine for the past two weeks that he was considering taking Ford's redshirt off. After Scott broke his collarbone I think it solidified Miles' decision.

bullshite. I bet Ford wants to play. He probably doesn't want to be here for 5 years anyway. Having said that, it's not really worth it to play him.

I can't wait to hear the backlash if this happens. Why would he even consider this?

I would have to think that Ford would have a say so in this. I think if he was against it, then Miles wouldn't even consider it.

holliday and shep run if ridley goes down. it is stupid to waste a year of fords time in a game that doesn't mean jack shite. if this was a sec title/nc chance then yea waste the redshirt.

It's not like he burned the redshirt giving him a few carries in a meaningless blowout against Tulane. Miles is down to his 4th string RB in Ridley for crying out loud. Besides, no position player in all of professional sports has a shorter shelf life than an NFL running back. They are pretty much done by the time they hit 30. If Ford is as good as advertised, he sure as hell isn't going to spend 5 years at LSU anyway. And if he's not as good as advertised, why are you so concerned about him losing his redshirt?

He should take a practice guy that won't play in the future vs burning the red shirt on a stud player who will have 4 productive yrs.

Why would Miles care about burning his red shirt?...he won't be around for Ford's entire career anyway.

Good point.

the problem is this thought shouldn't even enter miles head at this point with 2 games left in the year.
