Would this have worked?

Under the new rules you don't need 7 on the line, you just need 4 or fewer in the backfield.
If the center and QB are the only players on the field and the center snaps the ball, its a legal play. The center is also an eligible receiver in this case as he is an end.
What if the offense had left the field, except for Tbob and JJ - tbob snaps the ball, runs into the endzone, JJ throws it to him, all before the Ole Miss D has any clue what's happening.
Would that have worked?
(better chance than spiking the ball!)

If we would have beaten Ole Miss on that play that would have been epic.

Dude, it took us 20 seconds to get a timeout called.

I I had been Jefferson, i tell the snapper to snap it and I attempt a drop-kick.

What would make it work great is if the defense is so confused one of them is offsides.

If the center is an end, he is eligible though, no?

So what? Then its a penalty and the game cant end on a penalty, so we get one more play and kick the game winning FG!
Or better yet!! We run two straight running plays and line the ball up for a FG, then on 3rd down kick the game winning FG!!! WOW!!!

you also have to 11 players on the field don't you
also anybody on the field behind the line of scrimage is considered in the back field so the only way to have the correct number of people is 7 people on the line of scrimage and 4 people behind

The game can't end on a DEFENSIVE penalty.

Opponent would decline penalty and game would be over

less dropped balls by Lafell would have helped

Nope. All you technically need is 1 - the center.

Rule change this year - the requirement is now no more than 4 in the back, not at least 7 on the line. So you can have 4 backs and a 6 man line. Or 4 backs and a 2 man line. Or 1 back and a 1 man line.
You might recall earlier in the year (bama?) LSU drew a penalty for a 6 man line and 5 backs but the refs referred to it as too many in the back field.

No, and it's laughable.

They can on last play of game because rule says game CANNOT end with a penalty. There has to be one more play. If they decline. the ball just doesnt get moved back.

Wrong. If the penalty is on offense the game ends.
Its only an accepted DEFENSIVE penalty the game cannot end on.

Penalty results in a 10 second run off of the clock. Game over

There is no 10 second run-off in college.
