**denote players who eventually played in the NFL

So, when Nick Saban took over at LSU in 2000, he inherited at least 20 players who went on to play in the NFL.

According to many on this board, Saban built the LSU program from the ground up. That assertion is not supported by the facts as LSU had a lot of talent on board when Saban took over.

I agree that Saban taught LSU how to win over time, but even with the talent he had on hand, Saban lost 12 games his first three years at LSU and 3 during his fifth and final season. Yet many LSU fans consider Saban infallible as a coach.

The same results from Miles would cause Miles to be run out of town as evidenced by the calls for his head after losing to the top two teams in the country this season. However, I guess some would rather make decisions based upon emotion rather than facts and/or results.

frick, you miles coolaid drinkers just cannot give up your hate for Saban. LSU has always had some decent talent, it just a matter of coaching them and Saban coached them and imo better than Miles.

Good post, but you are bringing way to much logic to the rant.

I swear most of the posters on the rant are worse than a crazy obsessed ex girlfriend when it comes to the great $aban.

I am not a "kool aid drinker" and I don't hate Saban. I am simply pointing out the facts. If the facts upset you so much, then that is an issue for you to deal with.

Did you even read his post and look at the record?

Miles has more wins than Saban and still has 3 games to play.
Saban lost 12 friggin games in 3 years with the talent he had.

Not this shite again! LSU lost 8 freakin games the season prior to Saban. 15 losses in the 2 seasons prior. He went 8-0 in his 2nd season at Bama and is poised to go 8-0 again this season.

I hate the lil prick, but why the hell do idiot fans need to substantiate what he did at LSU?

Even Curly left the team with a lot of talent for Dinardo. Kennison, Northern, Gilliard, Tory James etc.

Yea, that was really well coached team that lost to UAB, lost to Ark on the last play of the game and lost LSU's trip to Atlanta that year. Oh, and the last play of the Iowa game, that was some good coaching. I loved the way the great Saban threw a RS freshmen Matt Flynn in that game. That was ome good coaching moves.

Was LSU considered at top tier team in 2000? did anyone really know of any of these players before saban got here besides Josh Booty or maybe trev Faulk?

The issue is not whether these players were household names, the issue is that many LSU fans believe LSU was void of talent when Saban took over at LSU and he built the program from scratch. That premise is false as evidenced by the number of players he inherited who went on to play in the NFL. I don't dispute Saban coached them and improved them, but they had to have God-given ability to eventually play at the highest level. And even with Saban's coaching, LSU still lost a number of games that in hindsight, you can argue that LSU should have won.

And those 2 games, Saban has had the luxury of a senior QB both times. That is something that Miles has not had
