This is so revisionist. His first year we won 8 games, LSU had won 7 games COMBINED the previous 2 seasons.

In his second season, we won the SECCG and Sugar Bowl! GTFO. We were 6-1 in his 3rd year and spanked the crap out of UF at the Swamp. Saban took huge criticism because Mauck got hurt when maybe he shouldn't have been playing. In his 4th season, LSU won it's first NC in 45 years, 2nd SEC title in 3 years and finished with only 1 loss. He mailed in the Iowa game his 5th year while he was Dolphins coach, but blame that crap on Skip Bertman, Saban never should have been allowed to coach that game.

Yeah, we were happy one year. One. Laughing stock.

frick, you miles coolaid drinkers just cannot give up your hate for Saban. LSU has always had some decent talent, it just a matter of coaching them and Saban coached them and imo better than Miles.

great point

Was LSU considered at top tier team in 2000? did anyone really know of any of these players before saban got here besides Josh Booty or maybe trev Faulk?

outstanding point..

He didn't have to. Saban left the cupbaord full as shite and Miles needs to maintain it. He has done well with that, BUT Saban is THE better coach.

Final Coaches Poll Rankings under Saban:

2000 Not ranked, lost to Auburn 34-17, UAB 10-3,
and Florida 41-9
2001 7th, a good season, but Miles has done this
as well
2002 Not ranked, 8-5, lost 4 of last 6, with
loss to Texas in the Cotton Bowl
2003 #1, GREAT SEASON!!!!
2004 16th, with loss to IOWA in bowl

Revisionist??? I know I would rather have the last 5 seasons instead of those 5. But that is just me.

The first 5 or so years was part of the rebuilding process. Look whsat Saban left to Miles.

No argument that the program was in much better condition when Nick left here versus when he started.

My comment is centered around the results that Saban produced while here.

I stand by the fact that based on the standards we have for this program, Nicky produced one great year.

frick all you with man love for Saban. His great coaching isn't shite with out the refs and our guys going down, the loss of Scott and JJ effectively stopped all our offesive momentum but I guess little Nicky coached um up to injure our players.

You mean the momentum of the 12th ranked offense in the SEC? People like you should just read. Not necessarily this board. But something to improve your intellect.
