I know this stuff has been discussed over and over on this board. I know that when we question Miles we have a tendency to pull out the records and prove that in spite of how ugly the wins looked or how lucky we may have been, hey, he wins. Bottom line. And, that's hard to argue with. Nevertheless, even though Miles wins, we find ourselves scratching our heads at some things he says (like the Tiger defense this past Saturday was what he wanted to see?) and, being very thankful that we got some lucky breaks (like getting into the BCS national championship game with two losses) I've never met Coach Miles but, from what I've read he's a nice man. It's obvious he protects his coaches which isn't a bad thing. And, he seems to do a decent job recruiting. But, he consistently makes decisions that cause you to wonder. And,for the record, this isn't about Nick Saban. Yes, he's a great coach and has turned Bama around. But, Saban is gone. Isn't coming back. Miles is here and isn't going anywhere as long as he wins about 8-9 games a year. Still, I question if LSU will ever be among the elite nationally with Miles at the helm. Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are going to dominate the SEC until one of them moves on. And, for the record, Lee Corso doesn't look so crazy in his "upset" pick now, does he?

Georgia seems to stay there, and they've accomplished alot less....

Sigh that was not exactly what Miles said. As has been posted on here numerous times he said at times he saw what he wanted to see. See the second half.

The ABove Coaches are not GODS and yes they make mistakes. I am sure that AUBURN, ARKANSAS, OLE MISS and other teams are not just going to bend over and take it from them.

LSU will be fine.

Ya know, Steve Spurrier tells it like it is every week but he still loses 4 or 5 games a year at South Carolina. I would rather Mile's record than Spurrier's mouth FWIW.

ever stop to think that courso was talking more about washington than about lsu? sounds like he was much more familiar with the situation out there than 99% of the posters here. sometimes, we live in a vacuum. if so, he was right that UW is a whole lot better team than those ignorant of the facts gave them credit for. many of our fans have completely unrealistic expectations. for the other sec teams playing BCS talent schools, NONE OF THEM completely dominated and smeared their opponent. i guess uga, ole miss and bama are ending an era and on a downward spiral also; all based on one friggin game!

Considering this was the defense's first game with the new defensive scheme, we played well enough to win the game.

As a clueless fan, what more could you want?

Gee, dude, Miles wins 10 games a year first three years, wins 8 the fourth, and all of sudden glory days are over for my LSU team? I don't think so.

LSU, elite and proud to be elite.

People should listen to what he said. He pointed out that the defense was in proper position most of the game, and greatly improved in the second half. He also pointed out that missed tackles have to improved.

When you take what he said in its proper context, he's right.

DECENT?! please tell me you're joking. name the staff that has consistently recruited better. and you say he's "decent". wow.

But, he consistently makes decisions that cause you to wonder.

like what? please don't be like the ignorant fans nationwide that think the last play of the '07 auburn game was horrible coaching. it was actually the "right" call. don't blame miles because the offense took too long to get the ball snapped. and the 4th downs against florida showed that he not only knew his team but also knew the situation and the 4th down stats. oh, maybe he's just "lucky" with 5 4th down conversions against florida. as for the occasional timout, remember auburn last year? tuberville is one of the best, right? every coach, including saban and meyer make the occasional clock management mistake. saban used to drive me CRAZY when he had the ball at the end of the half in a close game and he would shut down the offense.

quote:

Urban Meyer and Nick Saban are going to dominate the SEC until one of them moves on.
yet miles hasn't had a loss like bama's loss at home to ulm. and even meyer wasn't that great in '07.

my question to you is: who are you comparing miles against? what team consistently wins "pretty". no matter how you slice it, all perceptions aside, miles is in the elite of the elite during his time at lsu. obviously, that may change in the future

how many more great seasons will it take before those perceptions (game decisions, confusing statements) will have to be adjusted?

No fricking shite. Thank you for starting yet another, "I don't trust Miles" thread. What...the...frick? Seriously, did you really find it necessary to start this thread, and think you would get any different answers than the thousands of other threads that have already been about this very...same...fricking...topic?

Ban this douchebag rantard.

Yes it is and you should have stopped right there. imo

I don't give a flying flip "how ugly the wins looked" or how lucky some feel we might be. I care bout one thing...results and his results are in the Top 5 in his career at LSU.

You can see a problem with that if you so chose, but I don't!

We are one spoiled set of fans if we can't be happy a BCS Title, SEC Title, 4 bowl wins, and an average of 10 wins a year in his 4 yrs.

take a look at the miles record in bowls-- he can coach and set up big wins-- his bowl success is outstanding and according to all th experts-- he has the recruiting-- he is a good coach and he wants to be with us-- saban and or meyer will be gone in a few years to something new

Someone had to get in. LSU was the other best team despite having two losses. It was a chaotic season and anyone that got into the game would have had some "luck" in getting there.

Stupid much?

Are you ignorant of Saban's ugly wins and losses to poor teams? Does that somehow escape your piss-poor analysis of Miles?
