If you look further into 2 teams

Houston 101.1ppg 43.2rpg 25.5apg
Orlando 101 ppg 43.3rpg 19.4apg

Some numbers are off because of different era.
When Houston won their championship only 1 team averaged less than 20apg and 14 teams avg 25+ apg.
This year in NBA you had 0 avg 25+ apg

Also when Houston won 26 teams avg 40+ rpg with high of 46.2 compared to 23 with 40+ and high of 43.92.

20 teams avg 100+ ppg compared to 13 today

Also remember Toronto/Memphis are new to league since Houston won so it was 14/28 teams which is half avg 25+ assist per game and 26/28 to avg 40+ rebounds per game.

So while number look similar there is a drastic difference because of they styles of the era's.

22 Double-Doubles in these playoffs.
He definitely sucks.

LOL, Tyson Chandler was the number 2 pick in the 2001 NBA draft and after 8 years of playing in this league, he has nothing that resembles a post game.

Pair Howard and CP3 together for one year and I guarantee this wouldn't be a conversation. Chris Paul would get Howard 25 points a night just off of pick and roll guaranteed!

This is why I said there window was this year. If Turkoglu is not resigned then after next year all they will have is Howard, Lewis, Nelson, Reddick, Pietrus, and Lee. Which does sound like a good nucleus but they will only hvae 4 mil. to spend on free agents.

The Magic lack a penetrating guard/foward. Turk is good but you need someone that can force "help" when driving in the lane. That will open up Howard for easy scores plus open your shooters on the wing.

Turk is nothing but a young Peja!

The Magic have one big man and 4 jump shooters.

Shaq job was easier cause he had a penetrating guard/foward with Penny, Bryant, and D-wade. They would drive the lane and force the defense to help and they would just dump it off to shaq at the last minute for the easy dunk or stop in the lane and shaq would be ready for the lob dunk!

Howard needs to learn one of two things. If he learns both, he will be the best center of all time. If he learns neither, he will be a perennial All-Star without a ring on his finger.

1) Pass effectively with both hands out of the post
2) Face up

Complicated, huh?

The Magic (who had such a great surrounding class) went 7 games with a Celtics team w/o KG. Blew the Cavs out the gym (it was bad matchup for the Cavs). And they lost to the Lakers who were the better team and could matchup well with them. But, Howard supporting cast isnt championship material (solid but not great) and Howard isnt ready to carry a team to a championship by himself, yet. But, hes not overrated. He's only going to get better and Howard and Lebron will battling for the East Supremecy for yrs to come.

Better supporting cast
Jordan had:
S Pipper
H Grant
BJ Armstrong
B Cartwright
B Hansen
C Hodges
S King
C Levingston
J Paxson
W Perdue
S Williams

or
Howard Has:
H Turkoglu
R Lewis
R Alston
J Nelson
M Pietrus
C Lee
JJ redrick
A Johnson
T Battie
J Richardson
T Lue
A Foyle

Is Pipper the difference maker between the 2 because of his all around game?
Or was it Jordan who really carried a supporting cast filled with journeymen and no names who are only known because they played with Jordan?

people make me laugh... no one said great just argued they were better than you saying pathetic. They are decent enough to win if they had a superstar to carry them.

Take Dwight and Mike off that list and Pippen and Horace are the best players remaining.

Wondering though Pipper is top 50 player but really on MJ's first championship he had no other help. Horace was good but not great. I am not even sure if he was ever an all-star, NBA defensive player or anything.

Horace was a classic 4, great defender, rebounder and could knock down a 15 footer all day. Im pretty sure he was all-defense a few times.
He was huge when the magic made their finals run in 95

I am too lazy to look it up now, but really looking at that first championship roster Jordan carried them. Howard played with a decent supporting cast he just could not carry them.

Jordan didn't win rings with a bunch of homeless guys. He had real live NBA players for all six. The biggest thing his teams lacked was a legit center at a time when every contender in the league had a dominant 7-footer. That's where his greatness kicked in.
