I'm shocked that defending the 2A is back on the menu after a bunch of baws used similar rhetoric to the Biden admin recently on here to attack it.

Yes if you are purchasing from a dealer. No gun show I have ever attended is letting private individuals rent a booth to sell their personal collection which is what this aims to stop.

It doesn't matter whether it actually happens. What matters is that the media and Democrats have convinced half the country that its where all guns used in crimes come from.

Let's parse this a bit...

quote:

The so-called gun show loophole has for years allowed unlicensed gun dealers to sell firearms without background checks at gun shows, on the internet and out of their homes.

There's no such thing as an "unlicensed gun dealer". Anyone in the business of buying/selling firearms must be licensed through the ATF. The end.

The only other option is private sales. Gun shows generally do not allow private sales, they are for firearms dealers (ie: licensed) to buy/sell in a single place. I can't think of any gun show I've been to which has had a single booth by a private seller.

So there's no "loophole" for gun shows, the "loophole" isn't location-specific, it's just another way of saying "private sales".

We've had background checks for decades. How has that worked out?

In typical Leftist fashion, when bigger-government growth fail, their default is to demand even larger bigger-government growth to cover for the failure.

Here they come to defend a president who used DOJ to attack the Second Amendment, while in the other thread complaining about the next president using the DOJ to attack the Second Amendment.

You couldn't script these Fudds any better.

I have. There isn't one. You get background checked just like everywhere else.

That's the specific point of the clarification in the reg.

The question is when a private sale becomes a business sale.

Well they do exist. Like I've said a few times, this is exactly why the airport exec in Arkansas got busted. They had him dead to rights selling volume at gun shows without a FFL. He even sold to an undercover.

So it may be rare, but it does happen.

Now, does it happen anywhere near how DEMs portray it? No. Clearly not.

You mean gun shows aren't just random baws with tailgate tents offloading their scary bump-stock equipped assault rifles?

Who would have ever guessed?

Doesn't have to be real. It just has to sound scary to the ignorant masses.

Another mirage just like the student loan forgiveness.

They are really desperate and think their voters are stupid.

GOA - where are you? I would include NRA but I don't think they are any longer relevant.

The depressing part is that a huge portion of voters (and Americans generally) are very, very stupid.

If you want the conspiracy theory about that baw in ARK, this is it.

He is the poster child for the "gun show loophole".
