specific to deputies and the sheriff’s association. Not sure how/if that helps smaller municipalities and local PD’s.

Most small municipalities need to shut down their departments and rely on the sheriff.

I love all the pro-JBE crowd so mad about every Landry action.

Jeff Landry won the governors race by a huge margin. The bedwetting here is either by progressives or the same people that voted FOR Landry and are just hypocrites.

If you vote for someone does that mean that you have to be an NPC and agree with every single thing that they do?

Very true but those small town mayors aren’t going to give up that power

Landry's order removes restrictions that state law places on hiring and payroll for a period of time following a gubernatorial election.

Why does a Governor election impact sheriff deputy hiring??

That rule needs to be removed permanently

He was making more than that

Well this might not be a popular opinion but it sure seems to me like there's plenty of them. I can't make a 15 minute drive without seeing multiple police cars anymore it seems.

Maybe they are just patrolling the wrong areas?

Look I'd be all game for more police if it was guaranteed that they weren't just going to be used to write working people speeding and inspection sticker tickets.

Right. So I'm not sure more of them is the right answer.

Better pay to drive a more competitive talent pool? That'll get my attention. More people jacking me around over inspection stickers right next to the middle class neighborhoods? No thanks. We have plenty of that already.

Small towns, including in Maine, Texas and Ohio, have disbanded their police departments, turning over law enforcement work to county sheriffs, a neighboring town or state police.

I don’t have an issue. Many of these small towns don’t need their own chief and police infrastructure. This has nothing to do with “defunding” the police or anything like that.

Focusing on revenue collection first public safety second is perverse.

Yes, and it’s so arse-backwards.

You know what communities don’t have funding problems? Those with low crime rates. If they would dedicate their resources to solving and preventing crime, the crime rate goes down and sales tax and property taxes increase.

But it’s not transactional, so they can’t see it.

So? Please list the reasons you think that is relevant.

Let's fix it by locking up more dads!

What do you suggest we do to the 'dads' that only know how to sell drugs and other gang banging activities?

These pieces of shite do not want to raise their kids. Do not want to be beneficial to society. They only want to be rappers and have fancy rims on shitty cars. That's their life motivations.

Any suggestions?
