Hate to break it to you but marathon runners aren’t flocking to Baton Rouge’s metropolis for a little race/fun weekend.

Baton Rouge is probably the least active (runners, cyclist, etc) population I have ever seen

While it’s not a premier race, last year over 3,000 people participated

I've heard that there are a lot of out of state runners because it's an easy flat race and they can use their time to qualify for larger marathons.

here’s trash in the street, downed signs, and general disrepair along the route.

That is Baton Rouge character! You want people to see a fake Baton Rouge?

Does the race packet have a sheet with advice for participants? Does it suggest running in a zig zag pattern? Or is the current advice of "run hide fight" the favored method?

Did you only ride down North Blvd which is less than a mile of hood and the only bad part of the course? Sounds like it.

This is the corrected marathon route. The construction on the lakes has cut off access to the golf course. It will divert to Christian Street and up Hillsdale.

The half marathon course follows the full marathon but instead of turning right on Kleinart you continue the path where you started (Park to Norh Blvd)

Yes, you can BQ (Boston Marathon Qualify) at the Louisiana Marathon.

I saw 5500 people are signed up across all routes. Pretty impressive.

Yes they do.

They come down because it’s a flat course and they are trying to BQ.

Baton Rouge's dirty secret: 81 tons of litter in wetlands behind LSU's Burden Center

quote:

BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Behind the flowers and the reminders of what life used to be like in Louisiana, there’s a relic to the past tucked behind the foliage at LSU’s Burden Center.

Eighty-one tons of Baton Rouge’s discarded waste sits in a 30-acre wetland. Plastic bottles, beer cans, and basketballs that have floated into the area from Wards Creek fill the swampy area, thick enough to walk on without touching the dirt beneath.

Lmao. Let’s clean the city for a foot race. We can’t clean it up for any other event and volunteers for KTTB are literally cleaning daily and the trash is still not stopping. But yeah, let’s worry about fiber filled runners who shite on the side of people’s houses while they run.

I don’t think that was a compliment.

When I lived in BR (in Tara), I would:

- run the half
- go to Another Broken Egg and eat a full size pancake meal (multiple large plate size pancakes)
- beach myself on my couch and watch the poor schlubs who signed up for the full

Least we could do is quit littering.

When my boys were cub scouts they picked up litter at the same spot once a month.

Every month there was more than they could pick up.

Trashy people are the reason for the trash. Nothing else.
