This is taking place in France, also Pepsi is the worst cola on the market.

So are we just going to pretend food prices haven’t gone up like 20% since Biden took office? Is that what we’re doing now?

I didn’t think Pepsi was popular outside of restaurants where they are the exclusive fountain drink.

It's far more popular in Northern states than Coke.

It’s sugar water. The profit margin on this stuff is insane at any price.

Things will never go down in cost significantly from here out. COVID and the ‘supply chain issues’ gave manufacturers and distributors the excuse to Jack prices on everything through the roof. Across the board, the price of groceries has doubled- to the point that it’s almost cheaper to eat out. Companies don’t go backwards intentionally. Ever. So, the consumer will continue to get gutted, wages won’t increase significantly to cover the consumer deficit, more people will be forced to lean on govt assistance to put food on the table, and until a true competitive, capitalist, free enterprise system is allowed to flourish again without overwhelming bureaucracy and taxes stifling startups and sucking the life out of companies, then nothing will change for the better.

As long as you don’t account for the gargantuan increase since 2021 in the cost of ingredients, packaging, labor, and especially transportation, you’re right.

Good. Last I checked a 12 pack of any major soda was around $8. Pre-COVID it was $4-4.50.

Shoutout to Nola Discount Pharmacy who still do the 3 for $15 Coke product 12 pack

I know Pepsi makes a wide array of products, but who here still guzzles soda?

Unless the brands aren't moving because they are overpriced relative to their competition, how does it effect the merchant one way or the other?

If the retailer thinks the products are overpriced that likely also means they think customers won't pay the price and fewer units will sell. Better for the retailer to free up valuable shelf space for faster moving product that will ultimately make the retailer more money, especially in Europe where the stores are usually much smaller than here.

The great value type brands are just as good as Pepsi.

Costco used to not carry coke products due to not offering lower price.

Manufacturers are always price gouging. I spoke to a manufacturer a few weeks ago. He told me the cost of every single ingredient he used to make his product has steadily increased since Covid. Nothing has come down, but they all keep going up.

So let’s say this is his formula that used to cost $9 to produce:
A - $2
B - $3
C - $4

Now it costs $14 to produce just for the ingredients:
A - $4
B - $5
C - $5

When the cost of goods the manufacturer uses to make the product increase, the cost of the product has to increase. It’s not about the manufacturer making more money, it’s simply the manufacturer trying to keep up with their cost increases.

Yep, I stopped drinking Coke back when it was still $2.50 for a twelve pack.
