Finally somebody is stepping up to these major corporations and their price gouging.
LINK
Of course nobody here has the balls to stick up to these mega corporations but a French retail giant has.

I've switched to the store brand colas. Taste isn't as good, but half the price.

This is taking place in France, also Pepsi is the worst cola on the market.

I don’t hate it but would prefer a good old fashioned coke.

I don't really get this. Don't the stores just sell the brands at a margin and let the labels compete against each other? Unless the brands aren't moving because they are overpriced relative to their competition, how does it effect the merchant one way or the other?
I'm sure there's a massive amount of nuance I'm missing. Anyone have some insight?

My local store has been having a really hard time clearing the shelves of sodas before the expire due to price.
This may just be the chain saying Pepsi isn’t as popular to our customers and we don’t want to deal with the expired product anymore.

I stopped drinking soda years ago. I'm getting too old to suck down a half pound of refined sugar and corn syrup every day.

Pepsi was only good at skating rink birthday parties as a kid with crushed ice!

I didn’t think Pepsi was popular outside of restaurants where they are the exclusive fountain drink.

Good. Last I checked a 12 pack of any major soda was around $8. Pre-COVID it was $4-4.50.
That’s ridiculous.
