the hotels in NOLA east are pretty bad

Right. When talking New Orleans hotels people usually mean in the East, not downtown

Best bet in New Orleans is a hotel

I've stayed at ABNB in the Garden District and Uptown that were fine. Less pricey than a hotel if for no other reason than not having to pay the ridiculous parking fees in the CBD.

Thanks for the help and advice so far. One more inquiry, how would the area around the intersection of rampart and independence st be. Looks like it is kinda close to marginy

I tell this to everyone who asks me about AirBnB in New Orleans.

Unless you are very familiar with the city, I would suggest staying in a hotel. A few blocks can be the difference between "safe" and sketch.

Valid point, but the damn cleaning fees at most AirBNBs probably white out that savings if one is only planning to stay a few nights

Make sure your life insurance policy is up-to-date and your beneficiaries contact information is current and easily accessible.
