I like it. In this situation, sketchy and dangerous. But I like it. One of my friends had one a few years back and totaled it in less than 6 months. Too much power for idiots.

You are "storing" an expensive car for someone you don't know.

You're not in the business of storing vehicles, right?

Anything in writing?

What if something happens to the car while it's in your possession?

You're driving it sometimes. Proof that it's properly insured? Does your homeowner's policy cover any damages to a vehicle you are storing on your property that you don't own?

Are you sure he's the sole owner of the vehicle?

I suggest you tell him to come get the vehicle asap.

All of this and so much more. I’m sure even if his home owners covers other cars, and even if his personal insurance covers him in other vehicles, it sounds like he’s holding it as a business transaction in which case there’s a better than not chance his insurances would tell him he’s fricked.

Does the OP have the title to it? I wouldn’t be surprised to hear that some out of state loan shark has claim to it.

Suppose everything is straight with the car - why the urgency to get a membership when he’s not even going to be in town to use it? Why can’t he just wait until he’s sufficiently fluid to be able to write a check? This is a shady situation and if this guy is this comfortable with just dropping it on the OP then there’s a good chance he’s the try of guy that’s going to have more shady shite to involve the OP with in the future.

The guy asks me if I will take his Shelby and store it so it’s in a safe place till his house closes. Tells me I can drive it all I want and that it’s “my” car to keep till he joins.

Leaves me the keys and that’s that.

So he left the car with you and found another way home or did you go get it? Either way, can't believe you took on the potential liability for a complete stranger. Also, why does he have 2 cars in whatever town you're in and not at his house in Phoenix?

Two things:

1) you can just write a $50k check and get into your club?
2) it's cheaper for him to let you use his car while he is out of town than it is for him to pay to store it somewhere.

Compared to what?

Especially with the Track Pack (which the orange car pictured doesn't have) the GT 500, despite being porcine, is a very capable track car though it will be hard on tires and brakes.

You are saying a car doesn't corner well when it is a drivers race on the track with cars like a C7 Z06, Camarao ZL1 1LE, Huracan Performante, and Viper ACR. It is a decent bit faster than a C8 Z51. Nobody would call any of those cars meek on the track.

I have been on the track with several of them over time and in the hands of a half-decent track driver they will flat-out haul.

It’s definitely portly. You feel the weight. Nothing like a C8Z51 but it is fundamentally a completely different car (boosted and front engine vs NA and mid engine).

It also has 305s up front which are absolutely massive and will tramline easily on normal roads.

Can you use the other 75k in the car to sign me up for a membership?

Eta
But seriously, I'll be in Scottsdale in a few weeks. Can I play your course on your dime? AZ golf hits the old pocket book hard.

Check the trunk for classified documents. The "big guy" will be in touch.

Don’t know about Arizona, but down in Florida this situation screams neurotic, drug-addled behavior. And, when things start sounding like “Florida Man”, duck and cover.

My grandfather once bought a Viper SRT-10 and returned it in under a week. He said he was definitely going get himself killed in that car.

Car owner is probably broke and left the car with you so the bank won't take it.
