How did we end up with Payton’s BBQ buddies running the show?

Pathetic state of affairs. The entire organization is rife with Payton’s goons that powered their way to the top in the name of continuity. The Drew Brees/SP era is dead and gone. Time to get rid of all these fools because there is no way they’ll get rid of each other. Carmichael & DA definitely need to go but they are only symptoms of the problem.. If Loomis is retained even if he cans those 2 he would just replace them with the likes of Ryan Neilson or the ghost of Joe Vitt

Mickey Loomis is the guy that I don’t like. He sounds like someone who works at an Infinity Dealership and he never takes the blame for his sorry arse frickups.

Loomis is basically part owner at this point. You people need to come to grips with the fact that he is going nowhere.

Loomis semi retired after bountygate.

Loomis has been here since 2001. He is the guy who hired Sean Payton. He is also the person Gayle trusts because she has no idea how to run an NFL team. He isn't going anywhere and he is also the second-best GM the Saints have had behind Jim Finks.
I do think he needs to hire two people as general managers of the Saints and the Pelicans so he can just be the CEO of the combined franchises. I'm just not sure he could keep his finger out of the pie in that situation.

Everyone on this board is such a bunch of overreacting chicken littles. Loomis hired CSP, signed Brees, traded for Shockey, found Colton, got Vilma, got Demario, drafted Kamara, delivered a Super Bowl, has overseen one of the most winning franchises over the last 15 years.
He’s capable of righting the ship. The Dennis Allen hire was atrocious!!! The drafting needs to go away from RAS and more to scouting. But the Browns would absolutely kill for our recent history.

The powers that be are too entangled, ownership and management are running a family and not a business essentially

Isn't that what Lauscha basically does? I know he's been with the team since before Loomis, but don't know when he took over as President.

Correct, he and Lauscha were each gifted 0.5% equity in the sports franchises. Assuming the Saints would fetch $6B when sold after Gayle passes, she’d have to liquidate assets to cut a $30M check to make Loomis go away.
