Sales and VP jobs. My dad and stepdad are both still working and I think they both make over 300k. One is a consultant in the oilfield and the other is in construction management.

Construction management upper levels.

Project executives and ops directors at large general contractors can make that.

$300k is big bucks if we are talking W2 income.

Some B4 or MBB consultants get pretty close to that (McKinsey, Deloitte, PWC, etc.) after 10-15 years into their careers. Their lifestyle is rough though.

Traveling nurses made bank during the Covid years but that’s probably over now.

Some real estate brokers do very well even in smaller markets. Obviously things are slowing on that front now.

And most doctors make around 100k which include pediatricians, er doctors, GP. Mostly you need a specialty as a doctor to clear 300k.

Did you post this from 1985?

Pilots flying big body jets with can earn 300K + depending on years of experience and which company airline they fly for. Delta top pilots can make 450K a year

That is laughably inaccurate

It is.

There are definitely pediatricians and FPs though who think NYC and Cali are where they want to be and take employed positions in the 130s-150s just to be there. Not worth a 50-100k paycut just to be in a higher tax environment. But to each their own.

Finance: investment banking, private equity, etc.

PE Ops: be a functional lead in a portfolio company of a PE firm with equity stake.

Corp: VP level

Sales: Very wide array. Eat what you kill

Professional Services: Senior Manager / Director at upper-mid/top tier consulting firms - this can be traditional Strat consulting or Technology consulting, or anything with specialized skillset

State Farm and Farm Bureau agents with the name on the door are regularly making $300k or more.

Yep. Just create 5 successful businesses. I’m not sure why more people don’t think of this.

Why are you asking specifically about $300k. Is that the new $100k? Does 300 help achieve your lifestyle goals? Asking because I’ve always wanted to make more money, never had a number in mind.

Locum medical staff all clears big $
Surgery Specializing clears big $ in this southeast market where hospitals give them 2 and 3 rooms and they work out of asc.

Nothing beats buisness owners though , right.. Noone to govern your earning potential

I think that $300k is easy for Drs. My BIL is a primary care and makes that. Specialties much more. Heck PAs making $100k is not uncommon. CNRRA is way above that.

Insurance can be very lucrative but I have a low opinion of most of those doing it.

Lawyers at the partner level get that pretty easily.

Investment advisors who are just moderately successful can clear that easily. The top guys into 7 figures with regularity.

Business owners can clear that very easily with a good bit of upfront effort. Income can vary a ton depending on type of company and year.

Also, $300k is dangerous level. Real spending creep issues without enough left over to save a ton. If you can keep a simple lifestyle and save a good bit then it will help accelerate retirement.

Yep. If you can get through the start up years, it's golden.

There is nothing inherently 'dangerous' about earning $300K. The liquid, disposable cash can be tempting for poor financial behaviors to take root...

If I had to do it all over again, I would go to UL-M and learn everything about insurance and risk management- then get a job in the insurance field. Broker dealer whole seller - work with someone like Chubb, Berkely, etc and learn

Work arse off as soon as you graduate, marry in late 20s - once you have that decade or so of insurance book development and career experience, you can make hundreds of thousands of dollars a year.

I ain’t saying the first decade is easy - cause it ain’t - but the long term rewards are great.

The good insurance people travel well, have time every week to hunt, golf, whatever they want to do
