If Central did it, why all if the fuss re St George? I get loss of tax base, but if one can do it, why not another? Did Central face a fight?

To me Central makes sense. Look at a map of Central and then look at the gerrymandering map of St. George.

Because it's 2023 and they can't leave because the poor black North Batin Rudge folk will be left behind.

It apparently wasn't racist in the late 90s with Central tho

But now it is.

This.

IMO it's less about actual incorporation and more about social and racial politics.

Depends on the judge and their leanings.

gerrymandering map of St. George.
The map is “gerrymandered” for two reasons.

1. To cut out the areas that didn’t want to be part of St. George. What’s wrong with that?

2. BR shady politics annexing large sections after the petition was filed because they are terrified to lose the tax dollars.

I understand what you are saying, distance I believe.

Greenwell Springs where Central is now was a nice secret years ago bf so many stupid people began moving out there and ruined it. So nice and quiet. As well as the thruway.

BR was a good town and schools were good, and housing reasonable. Goodwood, Tara, Broadmoor, Bocage and behind it off Old Hammond Hwy., Sherwood Forest. Greenwell Springs. And more. Things to do. It is criminal what they have allowed BR to turn into.

The annexations are illegal and will be reversed.

While I agree, it won't be like St. George is some safe haven with walls up around it. It will still be in the heart of East Baton Rouge Parish.

What's your take on it?

Went to the polls. It passed. Then it got pulled out from under us. The will of the people was clearly thwarted.

It doesn’t look nearly as bad as the Congressional Districts the Federal Court is pushing.

Your takes are pretty bad.

It’s not gerrymandered in any way shape or form. It represents the will of the people in the originally proposed area. The entire contiguous unincorporated southeastern portion of EBR parish.

The will of some of those people was to stay unincorporated, so they are now excluded.

Also, obviously it’s not going to be completely safe. What area is? And I wouldn’t exactly call the southeastern portion of the parish the “heart” either.

And lastly, what does any of that have to do with the constitutional right of the people to incorporate as a city to have equal representation and self governance?

Can't Landry basically sign off on the election once he's in and moot all of this?

Or are we past that point with what the courts have ruled?

Soooo I’m guessing you staunchly disagree with the way the federal government is wanting states to gerrymander districts to favor the blacks, correct? Because there’s nothing more BS than that crap just to appease a select few AND to keep another select few with getting votes they do not deserve!

It is now in the hands of the court that decided gaming wasn’t the same as gambling.

The whole state is a shite hole.

Let’s just hope the LA Supreme Court follows the law and not the money and politics of the issue. St. George deserves to have self governance and their own schools. This was all about the schools initially.

I can’t imagine SWB governing anything well.

Only when the outcome favors Dems. After Trumps victory over Hilary, this was never going to happen again. Uniparty rules.

How was this determined? The line was drawn right around my neighborhood but no one ever asked me.

Didn’t those places want to be in Baton Rouge and not St George?

I went to the St George meeting back in the summer.

SWB, has no standing in the lawsuit as she not apart of the legislative branch in EBRP.

Lamont, basically the only one left on the suit.

It all comes down to the word “and” in a law that discusses annexations.

Everyone will have to wait and see how it goes.
