What is your experience with an Audi Q7, a BMW X5 or similar Mercedes?

Daughter,(no pictures), is looking at the 2023 Q7 and 2024 X5 and possibly a Mercedes. For those who have owned these vehicles, what has been your experience in reliability and overall satisfaction? Any other vehicle you would recommend that meets the below requirement?

The requirement is the vehicle weigh 6,000 lbs so her company can get bonus depreciation for 2023 tax year.

I had the previous generation q7 and it was by far the best vehicle I've ever owned.

I wouldn't buy the current gen as the all touch interface is awful. It's a damn shame as I'd love to still be driving a q7.

I like the Q7 more than the X5. BMW has cheap interiors compared to Audi and Mercedes. More plastic. I also really love the ergonomics of the Audis. The physical layout of the cabin is really well done, and you have good visibility from the drivers seat.

I’ve driven I guess all of the latest Mercedes SUVs. I didn’t like the technology, especially the intrusive steering overrides, and the glass dashboard, although it’s visually a good design, but they have the highest quality interior of the three, and felt the best built. I do like the G-Wagon, but I like it because despite the modernizations it’s still a throwback. It drives like an old truck and the cabin has an astonishing amount of space.

With my bias toward drivers' cars, I would rank them:

X5
Q7
GLE

The choice will depend a lot on what an individual's priorities are.

As long as there is warranty they are all good vehicles.

I have had better luck with BMW than Audi.

Every sensor…and there are many…is $600 on all of them.

Mercedes. I've had BMW. Hated it. Our GLE is great.

We have a 2019 Q7. Can't think of any issues we've had. Maintenance is high, but if you know it going in, it shouldn't be an issue.

I’ve actually had all 3 recently. I had issues with both BMW’s (x5) and will never own another BMW. Audi also developed issues and unlikely to own. Passed down both Mercedes to kids and they went past 200,000 miles with no issues. Currently have a Lexus but would have no concerns with a Mercedes based on my personal experience.

Everyone I know who has owned a European car has to varying degrees regretted it. Go with Lexus. I've had a couple and got one over 400k miles with minimal repairs needed.

Not sure about the BMW X5 but we have the X7 and absolutely love it. No personal experience with Audi but we do have experience with Mercedes and I would steer clear. Mercedes has gone down the shitter.

I’ve owned two X5’s and have been generally happy. The current X5 is a 2014 and I’m looking to for a newer model (2024). I’m considering Land Rover and my mechanic at Motorworks by Dallas in Mandeville said, “Don”t do it. Stick with BMW. Look onside on our lot right now. We repair more Land Rovers than any other luxury brand.”

That’s all I’ve got.

Lived in Germany for a while so we got these cars straight out of the tap.

Our experience is the engineering/on road, hands down BMW. Over time though BMW has shifted more into luxury and less into "driving machine" so it's caught up to Mercedes-Benz for the most part. Anyone who is putting down BMW probably hasn't driven comparable Audi, BMW and Mercedes within the same model year. If they did and were honest they'd say Audi's tech sucks, Mercedes is the worst engineered and BMW is the most balanced
