I grew up in the area and I don't ever remember them being good in football. They did have a guy name Andre Brown who was a badass in basketball in the early 90s though, I think he scored 70 once.

Last football team that was really good was in the late 70s. Lost to Haughton in the finals 14-7, I think. They had a DL named Karl Morgan who ended up playing for UCLA. His brother Gerard was a very good RB, but blew out his knee. Vandy has not done much in FB since then. They are usually good in baseball though.

Coach Walter Dupre was just filling in on an interim basis. Last year's coach, Mark King resigned to go into the private sector. It was later in the year so it was too late to start looking for a coach. I think Dupre was only going to coach one season regardless of the results.

They were good a couple of times this decade. Last year they were second to Shaw in district and then blew it up in Benton. In like 2003 they were undefeated too, and then Early Doucet (I believe) ripped them a new one in the playoffs.

I grew up in Houma for a while. They haven't have a good team down there at any school, period.

I was just referring to playoff runs. The football coaching in the bayou area has suffered in recent years. There have not been very many real good teams down the bayou, Thib. or Houma. I think Lorio will bring THS back though.

I understand. I was just pointing out that they did have good teams, but ran into bad luck like going to Shreveport to play a team that they were seeded higher than (always an ignorant rule, if you ask me) or playing a blue-chip athlete.

I have not been reading the paper down here so I had no idea this happened. A buddy of mine is the RB and Special team coach. I guess I'll have to find out who is in the running for the job.
