And boomers from the south tend to be a lot more economically liberal than other subsets of Republican voters. They are very conservative on social issues and support some conservative economic policies like low taxes but support a lot of government intervention in the economy.
quote:LINK
Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody lookin' back again
Cotton on the roadside, cotton in the ditch
We all picked the cotton but we never got rich
Daddy was a veteran, a Southern Democrat
They ought to get a rich man to vote like that
Sing it
Song, song of the south
Sweet potato pie and I shut my mouth
Gone, gone with the wind
There ain't nobody lookin' back again
Well, somebody told us Wall Street fell
But we were so poor that we couldn't tell
Cotton was short and the weeds were tall
But Mr. Roosevelt's a-gonna save us all
Well, Mama got sick and Daddy got down
The county got the farm and we moved to town
Papa got a job with the TVA
He bought a washin' machine and then a Chevrolet
As demonstrated Alabama's Song of the South clearly show. A lot of boomers were raised by Southern Democrats who loved them some FDR and his New Deal gubment handouts. Southern Boomers are just doing what their parents taught them.

I can tell you this much, I live and vote in the Sip and I’m probably not voting of Tate. He’s lied to me about the flag and I’m still not happy with the way he let Dr Dobbs run the whole covid deal. I’m not saying I’m voting democrat because that will never happen but I might just sit this one out! And I can tell you there are a lot that feel the same way.
Sitting out is the same as voting for a democrat because the democrat voters will not sit out.

LOL…At least there would have a choice. Could be St Andrew’s, Germantown, a Charter School, or whatever. But at least it’s something.

Do you think that you will get school choice or even something if a democrat is elected Governor?

Mississippi has been primarily controlled by republicans, I’ve lived here for 40+ years.

All I can say for certain is that we sure as hell haven’t gotten it with who is in there. And as far as your other comment about “sitting out and not voting Republican is the same a voting democrat” then so be it. You can look at it anyway you want to. And again, he probably want need my vote anyway and that alright with me as well. But either way, it want be with my support at this time.

I think he's talking about why there are vouchers where the single parent could do such a thing with little personal financial impact. At least that's what school choice means to me.

Here's the thing. Tate is a pompous dick that is hated by a lot of people but he didn't have a legitimate challenger in the primary. Presley has these ads running saying he supports the second amendment and is pro life blah blah blah. My question is, then why are you a democrat? Honestly if he would have been a republican and said he wanted to expand Medicaid he probably would have the chance to put up a better fight even though I'm against it.

Mississippi has had one of the lowest education systems in the US for a long time. But keep voting for Democrats.
Mississippi has had a Republican governor, Republican house, and a Republican senate for a while now.

There is a fellow running for SOS here in La who uses the “Let’s go Brandon” slogan! Trosclair is his name!
Sounds classy
Brandon Trosclair's slogan is actually Let's Geaux Brandon and reflects his position that the vote tabulating/ counting process is not easily verifiable by "We the People" and needs to go back to the drawing board. Ironic usage of the LGB phrase in his case.
I'm not shilling for him, he spoke to a professional organization I attend and he made a logical case for how to do so. Worth entertaining the mechanics of his voting integrity idea.
The man himself came across genuine, owns grocery stores in Br and Gonzales for his day job.
LA Lets Geaux candidate

Mississippi will remain republican regardless of who the democratic nominee is as long as the left keeps moving more left.
The anti Christian and pro LGBT stance from the left cements that in MS.

Parker was a Democrat congressman who changed parties to run for governor.

What is it with you Louisiana folks sitting on your hands because “I didn’t get exactly what I wanted” and letting Dems like John Bell Edwards waltz into the governor’s mansion? And then you folks bitch about having a Dem governor?!?
Then some of you move to MS and do the exact same thing?? Damn. We point out idiot liberals doing this… but so called republicans are apparently just as guilty.

Mississippi has only had 4 republican governors since the end of Reconstruction. Three of those were elected in this century. The state legislature has only been controlled by republicans since 2012. The systemic problems that plagued Mississippi just like Louisiana were caused by democrats decades ago, and it will take decades to fix. Louisiana was heading in the right direction until 2015 when JBE was elected. Ms is heading in the right direction now and hopefully they can avoid making Louisiana’s mistake of electing a “moderate” democrat.

Yeah John Witcher is a bit of a whack job. I work with his son and even he thinks his dad is crazy.

Presley, as my PSC commissioner, allowed my water provider to be bought by an out of state provider and then allowed the new provider to raise our rates by over 400% to absolutely absurd levels earlier this year. This man then runs gubernatorial political ads gloating that as commissioner he prevented utilities from raising rates on their customers. He's a weasel. I have great disdain for this man.
