Starched crispy BDU’s with black boots polished that look like mirrors

My all time fav is WWII ike jackets ... which we've now brought back.

Small world ... I know both of those guys, Alpha 2/325th, in your first pic OP.

Those BDUs sucked donkey balls down there.

The half-assed buttoned up crap the Army had circa 2012-2016 was nowhere near as good looking as USMC rolled sleeves.

I was a BDU era soldier and I admitted that was a sloppy look in general but you will never convince me leaving the inside of the fabric showing on a military uniform is "correct" no matter how much time you spent getting the roll perfect.

And nothing looking sloppy, as you admitted it looked, belongs on a military uniform. Especially not as the standard.

Multicam (current) - pattern and shoulder pockets but i hate all the velcro

BDUs were pretty boss due to more pockets with buttons AND they came in two flavors: Summer or Winter. Also you can hand sew your patches which is a skill set.

If we’re being very honest, we know who were the snazziest dressers.

The cotton/ply twill BDUs just looked sloppy no matter what you did to them and in my unit were only on FNGs. The ripstop HWBDUs looked a lot better* if your command allowed them which mine did.

*The problem with ripstop is they didn't wear well especially if they were pressed over the buttons without putting some fabric in between to prevent button donuts. The ripstop ridges would wear faster than the rest of the fabric and turned garrison BDUs into field BDUs quickly if you didn't take care laundering them.

Definitely not the ugly ACUs I had to wear

lol, I was out just before those were issued.

Since type of uniforms weren't specified, these were pretty baller back in the late 1990s:

They were cheap and comfortable. Until around 2000 they were being replaced by these:

Which had all this high speed reflective material all over the uniform and still had to wear a PT belt.

I hated the kevlar. You couldn’t shave or wash out of them and they made my head itch.
