This team can compete now if the secondary comes together.

As for next season consider an OL with Campbell, Jones and an experienced Heard as the vets. WR will still be very good. Nabers is likely gone. Taylor and Pimpton at TE. RB room will be deep and talented. Nuss should be more polished and smart with the ball. Jack and SDE should be solid, but DT may be a question. Perk back for likely last season. Hopefully the younger DBs show development and portal becomes less necessary.

2024 could very well be a great season. We'll find out quickly with game 1 vs USC in Vegas.

Kim Mulkey is one of the best women’s coaches in history. Stupid comparison. What that team did shouldn’t be the expectation for any sport.

Im not sure your point here. Are you saying BK isnt also capable of winning a NC? Or are you just trying to white knight for Kim Mulkey in some strange way?

josh williams averaged 5.5 ypc last season, good for T-11th in the conference. We're gonna be fine at RB

Well in the video that was released by LSU football yesterday he tells the team "we aren't here to get a little bit better, we are here to win a national championship"

But according to BK, LSU is a year away.

LSU is not likely challenging for a Natty in the first yr of a new starting QB. JD returning gives LSU a better chance this year than next especially given that most of the major perennial contenders are in a QB change yhis year…
I think BK’s comments were more intended to curb the public’s expectations because the media is already out of control. Also BK’s remarks to the players are not consistent with that statement. He is not telling the players “never mind this year, we are focusing on next year…”

Completely replacing your CB1 and CB2 should definitely have everyone with a little tempered expectations to where he is in the rebuild. He’s done a stellar job but he’s still building. I say similar season to last year maybe one more or one less loss. There are still questions marks but going in the right direction fast.

A year away ain’t bad. I’ve seen “a year away” programs win titles a year early. He’s just saying we aren’t quite stacked with depth everywhere yet. Look how much he’s done tho. We have a coach that doesn’t sit on his arse so that’s nice.

why are we a year away? depth?

Depth and lack of talent in defensive backfield and RB unless freshman shine.

I do think the oline will be the strength of this team which should keep you in every game.

The strength of this team is the QB. The offensive line, defensive front seven and WR/TEs are all great position groups, as well.

My hope for this season lies in the jump we’ve gotten from our last 3 transfer starting qbs in the past.

Mettenburger went from a 58% to 65% passer — 12 td/7 ints vs 22 td/8 ints | Etling went from 11 tds/5 ints - 18 tds/2 ints | and then Burrow.

Platitudes and cliches aside. It is still an open question whether Daniels has grown as a passer. We haven’t seen it on the field, and I don’t think the coaches have either…..yet. How much Daniels improves as a passer is the biggest qualifier Coach Kelly may be relating to. The rest of Daniels’ game is really good so with passing improvement he could be maybe the one of best we’ve ever had. If not, we’ll probably lose 2-3 games because of it.

He's a 5th year starter possibly received the best coaching of his career this offseason. He has never had better coaching or talent up to this point.

There are no excuses for him to burp the baby, throw the deep ball out of bounds, take unnecessary sacks or be below 50% on 3rd down conversions. He is a Heisman hopeful so hopefully he comes out this season looking like a star! Providing this happens CBK will not know what to do with all the qb talent wanting to come to LSU.

BK was sandbagging. He knows this team is special and a natty contender. I’ve said before I don’t see a regular season loss

Beat FSU and that would help us out a lot all year. They are going to win 10 games this season, will be a huge feather in our cap.

I don't think so. I think there is a huge opportunity here to win a title year 2. Personally I feel the SEC is weak. Neither Alabama nor Georgia have the QBs needed to win the critical games this year. We have seen that defense and running the ball can no longer get it done alone. LSU is on the border and they need to beat the brakes off FSU and send an early message. I think FSU is soft and overrated and are banking a lot on last years game. LSU just needs Daniels to make that 70% Burrow leap.

I believe Daniels will be better this year, however I’m not expecting Burrow. 2019 was Joe’s second year starting. I think this will be Daniels’ fifth. If he does show meaningful improvement it will say a lot about Kelly’s coaching ability.
