I had a hell of a time finding a guy that could still do smooth plaster ceilings.
Imagine finding someone that can still do work like that. (Chrysler Building interior)

Frank Lloyd Wright wasn't Art Deco, but some of the art glass designs he did for his prairie style homes were fantastic.

Chrysler Building is my favorite building in NYC
Possibly the most beautiful piece of modern architect on the planet. Sucks how it’s been slowly obscured from many angles, but catching a view of it lit up at night walking uptown the East Village is something special.

General Electric Building lobby. Construction began in 1930 and was completed the following year.
Architect John Cross intended the design of the lobby should give off an impression of “vibrant energy”.

Some Art Deco/Streamline Moderne around Houston
Houston Deco, by Jim Parsons & David Bush is sitting on my coffee table.
Recently went out to the 1940 air terminal for the first time, and it's really cool at night. It was foggy too while we stood out on the deck watching planes land; felt like a set for Casablanca.

Miami South Beach Art Deco architecture is one of the few things that will look better in person than photoshopped photography.

One of the great pleasures in my adult life was the opportunity to take my wife and youngest son to the observation deck of Carew Tower when it was still open to the public. Shortly afterwards, the building was sold to an investor that is largely converting it to upscale condos, and has closed the deck to the public. The building is going to lose much of its character in the process.
Art Deco is still popular in Asia, and fairly recently (2002), a new AD tower was built in Singapore... the Parkview Tower. It's gorgeous and has a wealth of neo-Art Deco touches.
It has a luxurious lounge with a multi-level cooler for the booze, and a "wine angel" will be hoisted via a cable system to the upper levels to retrieve bottles. I've seen pictures where she's wearing angel wings as part of the getup. Very F. Scott Fitzgerald-ish.

Always loved the lines of the Chrysler building. The interior is stellar also.

Don’t get to know your heroes.
Fun fact- one of my sisters lived in a home designed by a FLW protégé built in old Metry. (No specific address furnished bc of the implication)
Put up with a flat roof in NOLA for forty years. It was painfully beautiful.
She passed away and the new owner tore it down (due to fatal termite infestation, allegedly) and stuck a $1m McMansion on the site.
