I swear I've seen one of the other Star Trek series with the same plot.

For some reason, episode 7 dropped only 3 days after episode 6.
EP 7: "These Old Scientists" is the crossover episode where Boimler and Mariner from "Lower Desks" travels back in time to meet the crew of Pikes Enterprise as live characters.
The episode starts out as an animated Lower Decks Show and as soon as Boimler teleports to the past he's in live form. I was reminded of Dorothy from the Wizard of Oz going from black and white to color.
It's a silly episode in the same tradition as the TOS "Shore Leave". It's a stand alone that was funny to watch but won't keep me going back to glean something meaningful from this episode.
I wonder if Paramount released this episode early by mistake? It's up now as of this post.

I thought the crossover was super well done.
One of my favorite things about Lower Decks is the fan service. Especially the deep cuts. Anytime ST:ENT is mentioned it makes me happy. And La'an saying she loves grapplers was freaking cool to the nerd in me.

I think they previewed it at SDCC and then released it after they did that.

the first season of this worth watching?
Yeah it was. Especially great was the re-do of Balance of Terror.

Supposedly, there will be a musical episode for SNW.
That’s full on stupid.

Here's the Trailer for it:
SNW Musical Trailer
It can't be worse than the Space Hippies singing in TOS

Just finished watching it, and that was just pure fun.
Sometimes having a silly episode is great, and yet they still managed to have some poignant moments. The final encounter with the Orions was great.
10/10 episode

Yup, one of the last scenes with Pike was pretty damn heavy. Overall, I enjoyed the hell out of it.
I watched the trailer for the musical episode and I'm actually looking forward to it.

Just got thru watching it. At first, I was somewhat annoyed by the “cartoonish” speech patterns, but as I got to thinking about it wasn’t much different than Harry Mudd or Cyranio Jones over the top portrayals.
The episode played out very well as a nice, entertaining Star Trek story. I really enjoyed the not so subtle “fanboy” aspect…both taking a few jabs and paying it some respect.

Tawny Newsome was great, of course, but Jack Quaid was perfect. He's got Boimler's movements down pat.
My favorite thing was Number One's poster.

Just another way to eliminate straight white men from the show.

I'm fine with funny/quirky episodes every once in a while, but this season needs more serious episodes. I feel like they are really close to adding a laugh track.

It appeals to the 18-35s which sucks for us. I'm tired of characters with sparky comments and no real dialogue

What it's starting to look like is they began this series with good old fan service to reel in the traditional trekkers and now it appears they are pivoting in an attempt to lure younger viewers in. I hope I'm reading this wrong because SNW is a good show and I would hate to see the SJW's screw a good thing up.

Agreed. That being said, they did a good job with this show. It had an old vs new feel for me

I love that the guy who voices the first officer in Lower Decks (and comments on how she’s the hottest first officer ever) is the actress’s real life husband :)

Nurse Chapel could get it. She's my guilty pleasure.

This has been a very inwardly-focused season, and I’m not sure I like this trend very much.
The name of the show is Strange New Worlds, not Random shite that Happens In and Around the Enterprise.
Let’s explore more. It’s a five year mission, right? Where? It always seems like they are in Federation space.
