What a damn apples to oranges comparison.

A more appropriate analogy would be one governor sending aid and resources to another state after a major storm or weather event.

Guess you have a problem with that, too if you were being consistent.

This isn’t just Texas’s fight — they just happen to be the tip of the spear. All US taxpayers should give full support to what’s being foisted upon them.

Solid. Maybe a few more states could help out.

All 50 states have sent NG assets to the border at some point and time. Its a standing National Guard Bureau (NGB) mission.

just seems like a gov using state funds and resources to benefit other states,

You don't think a large number of those migrants don't end up in Florida? You don't think this helps protect Florida and Floridians?

Congratulations. This is the stupidest comment on this entire website all week...and that's saying a lot.

I have a serious question for you...are you really this fricking stupid?

Again..are you really this fricking stupid?

The State of Florida clearly has an interest in stopping the flow of migrants into Texas. Many of them end up in Florida, some of whom commit crimes against Floridians. Acting to protect Florida and Floridians is entirely within the scope of his authority.

Sending taxpayer money to Ukraine isn't even remotely similar. If you can't grasp that, you're a lost cause. It's a wonder you can dress yourself every morning.

yep they sure have and they have every right to do that

are you too stupid to understand the difference in national guard and Florida law enforcement?

national guard is literally in the name, they are there to be sent anywhere in the country that they are needed.

Florida law enforcement are strictly state resources paid for with state taxpayer money and are only for the state to use for its needs except in times of temporary emergency disasters, which isnt a national open boarder policy.

because BamaGradinTn has already shown with his posts that he is that stupid

But I’d imagine—if nothing else—it aids morale, helping the current folks who are down there busting arse to protect the federal border feel like they’re not alone in this war.

So I did some digging/reading and by and large the federal authorities have said the Texas guardsmen that have been at the border for a couple of years aren’t helping much, and some have said they’re a hindrance. They can’t apprehend anyone crossing the border and are mostly just setting up barricades and acting as a deterrent. I guess every little bit helps, but Texas is in the billons of dollars they’ve spent on this mission. Doesn’t seem like a smart use of money and resources to me, and the cynical side of me sees it as mostly a political stunt.

He’s not talking about interest. He’s speaking of if he can unilaterally just send money without congressional approval. Of course it’s in all red states’ interest to stem the flow and frankly, I’m elated that Desantis did. Says a lot about him.

Regardless, keakar asked a legitimate question. Where does the money come from? Under the mattress? An anti-immigrant war chest

I certainly don’t know the particulars, tho my hunch is he’s pulling from a mix of general funds, trust funds, and other non-specifically earmarked sources all states have.

He’ll likely be asked about it imminently—if he hasn’t been questioned already.

Greg Abbott asked other governors for help patrolling the Texas-Mexico border. Ron DeSantis answered the call.

I wouldn’t be surprised if armed civilians of the US start to show up soon. Brandon and that horse face VP are complete idiots. In all my years I never thought we could have this kind of leadership in the WH. They should be in prison after this blunder
