One on each knee crutches for a week both done on Thursday back to office job Monday. Golf using a cart 4 weeks out was a mistake, climbing out of steep sand traps didn’t help.
Realistically for you probably a month. Or, use your cane for the affected rudder pedal leg. Fly with a crab angle?

I had the same surgery 10 or 12 years ago. Same thing, had it on a Friday was out throwing the football with my son on Sunday and back at work Monday.
The doc told me there was no way to hurt it by being mobile after the surgery. He said that actually the more you moved around, the better off it would be. That’s all I needed to hear.

If they repair it, you’re in for quite a haul. Co-worker had his repaired and it was straight leg cast for 6 weeks or something like that. If they just clip it out, you should be weight bearing as tolerated post procedure. I recently had an open OATS procedure and they clipped my torn meniscus as well. OATS was not very fun as the defect was too large to repair with a scope so they had to open my knee to expose the end of the femur to fix the cartilage defect plus the 3-4 weeks of non weight-bearing on crutches. 2 months out as of last week and started squatting again 2 weeks ago with a little bit lighter weight and no real issues. PT was huge to keep my quad from complete atrophy. It’s amazing how quickly the muscle shrinks down when you can’t walk. If they had just clipped the meniscus, I would’ve been fine probably after a week or so. Best of luck.

You may have had a DVT. I’ve had 5 arthroscopies on my right knee and an ACL reconstruction on the same leg. After surgeries 4 & 5, I experienced the same type pain. I could not stand the weight of an untucked sheet on my leg. I was diagnosed with post op blood clots. Surgery 6, 20 years after #5, they treated me for clotting pre and post surgery. I only had mild discomfort during recovery.
If you have another surgery, advise your surgeon of the intense pain.
I had my third DVT last fall and it moved to my lungs. I barely survived. Blood clots are serious business. I’m on blood thinners for life now.

I have my surgery for meniscus repair on Thursday the 20th. I start rehab on Monday the 24th and stitches out the 27th. Was told expect 3 weeks of physical Therapy.
Was told 3-4 days with both crutches. Then 3-4 days with 1 crutch or a can and after that I should be walking on it in aided.
No heavy leg work outs for 4 weeks, and then I need to start light and gradually work back up to heavy lifting.
I was told to basically start bending it almost immediately after surgery even though it will hurt and that will help with the rehab time.

Ruptured Achilles and was moving about on crutches right away, a boot and walking several months later. You will be mobile, just not like you used to be.

Big difference between repairing it and shaving it.

It really depends on how bad the tear is. You said you didn't do anything to tear it, which obviously is wrong. You likely tore it in some twisting motion, it is very easy to do. You probably tore it sometime earlier and never knew it. The actual tear isn't where the pain is coming from. It is from the the loose piece of cartilage (flap) moving as you move. This is how my Dr. explained it to me. They simply go in there and grind down the flap and stitch you back up. Most ppl can walk in a 2 or 3 days just need to be careful. For what you do going back to work should be fine just keep walking to a minimum for a week or 2. You might get some swelling from time to time after. It will stop after awhile. Also as others have said your knee will probably never be the same I know mine hasn't and my surgery was almost 10 years ago. Also I had the typical tear that everyone talks about. Knee didn't hurt all the time. As long as I was on smooth stable ground it felt normal but if it was uneven or on rocks my knee felt unstable.

Maybe the next day. I’ve had them fixed in both knees and there wasn’t much to it.
ETA-I was in my20’s. Now in my 50’s it would prob be a whole other ballgame. I had ACL repair in my late 30’s and you don’t just hop right up after that one.

10 years ago I had a bucket tear. I think I was off work for about 10 days. Was on painkillers for a couple of days and then I didn't need them after that.

Yeah you are correct. I just looked at my sheet and it says meniscectomy/debridement
