I never considered that, I just assumed the A-10 had a ceiling of 2,000 feet
The polar-ish route to Japan/Korea flies over AK between 36-41k feet all the time. I'd be f*(@# pissed if I died on a 777 to NRT because of a balloon.

If it occurred surely it would be relatively simple to provide dates, visual evidence, etc corroborated by those who were in those agencies at the time, no?
