Hey, research my past threads. I'm rooting for the kid, but I'm also a realist.

And Stafford's WR's weren't nearly as good as ours.

Don't start, there were a few drops that could have altered that game.

Remember also that Stafford was a true frosh.

Really one big drop.

But I remember running my SEC fantasy league when Stafford was a frosh. His WR's weren't that great. Still aren't, really. Aside from Green, they don't have any bona fide stars. Massaquoi has improved, but is still inconsistent.

Does this mean that all bad freshman QB's eventually become good QB's?

I think the most noticeable difference for Stafford is that the team he has surrounding him now, as a senior, is a Nick Saban team.

Wow...Lee vs Stafford
if you count his int return yards, Lee is over 2000 yds plus 6 more TDs.

And his passer rating boost to about 180.04

How can you justify comparing Staffords numbers to Lees? Some guys just have it, and others don't

So you're thinking that all the Jawja folks were so happy with how Stafford looked and were saying that he had "it" during HIS freshman year?

and IF they were, it just shows that they were RIGHT! Possibly like the people on this board who are giving Lee a chance.

heck, we've seen some schools wait 3-4 years before their QB matured. Remember Dameyne Craig at Auburn. That guy was awful but he had a great senior year!

I assume you're talking about Jason Campbell. He was the guy who struggled as a FR, SO and JR before putting it all together his final year. John Parker Wilson, Chris Leak, Carson Palmer are other examples.

Craig didn't play until his junior year (he was Pat Nix's backup in '94 and '95) and his junior year was probably better than his senior year though both were good.

That's probably a better team formula for QB play - let the guy sit on the bench for three years learning the system and the nuances of SEC play and always have a good QB waiting in the wings. Experience, poise and leadership being more prized than just raw talent at the position.

Of course now teams are so desperate to get the hyped QBs that they hand them the keys before they learn how to drive.

IF I'm an LSU fan what worries me about Lee is his bad play despite having an awesome and experienced supporting cast - NFL calibre WRs, a good dependable TE, one of the best offensive lines in cfb and a stable of weapons in the backfield (Scott, Murphy, Williams, Holliday) plus an good, experienced coordinator captaining the ship. If you manage to mess up THAT offense, then there are probably issues that extend deeper than just freshman inexperience.

stafford had 0 pick 6's
Lee has 7, we are going with 7 not six.

stafford also had 3 of his picks as the clock ran out in games that they had no chance of winning.

i looked it up about 3 weeks ago

Lee's bad games came against pre-season no. 1,
current no. 1 and the team that will likely win the NC. Give the guy a chance, he was shoved into this position two years prematurely.
Shout out to RP.

Matthew Stafford was the best quarterback coming out of high school that year. (arguable with Mitch Mustain) Which means he was the real deal and everyone knew it was only a matter of time. Imagine if UGA would have put a redshirt on him, come on. Lee did not even have an offer from the flagship university in his home state. You cannot compare the two.

Don't you think that Stafford could have been part of the reason they had NO CHANCE OF WINNING???

and maybe, just maybe, Jarrett is part of the reason WE'VE HAD A CHANCE TO WIN??????

Stafford just had 3 interceptions against Florida, including one that was returned 88 yards to the Florida 1 yard line (Tebow scored the TD on the next play).

When Lee is Stafford's age, will it be surprising to see Lee still throwing interceptions and pick sixes in big games, just like Stafford is still doing?
