Do You care about if a guitar neck is 21, or 22 frets?
I don't, but I rarely go any higher than the 12th fret.

For acoustic it’s not a big concern. Electric, give me a 24 fret.

How much is your hair gel bill?

Nope. My fingers don't really fit in between those frets anyway.

I'm like you. It's rare that I would need those two extra notes.

Gotta be able to hit those 24th fret bended high notes.

My 000-15 SM is 12 frets to the body, I don’t need anything past that.

I don’t like acoustic cutaways so I exclude myself from those frets out of pure taste and look of a guitar.
Electric? Whatever a dead stock Fender Strat neck has (I think it’s 21) is perfect. Anything higher is problematic for my hands and is too shreddy for me anyway. I don’t mind hearing players up that high. Just not for me to play.

My favorite is 22 because it's easier to full-step bend to the high octave on plain strings versus the three-fret bend needed on a 21, which feels somewhat awkward to both my fingers and my ears.
I prefer a 22 over a 24 because I like the tone and timbre of neck pickups that sit at what would be F24. A 24 fret bed moves the neck pickup to what would typically be equal to F26 or so. Not necessarily a bad zone tonally, just not as warm and lively as if you align the pickup to the F24 position. Just my ears and my opinion, however, YMMV.
I've also had two 27-fret Hamer Californians over the years. When you get something like this, neck pickup alignment is a somewhat moot point - like you're going to even use it.
And here's one of the few Hamer models I haven't owned over the years. The 36-fret Virtuoso. No neck pickup. No room for one.
