Post WWI the European cultural elites decided western culture was rotten. Much of this coincided with communist sympathies. Post WWII, the Soviet Union was something no one could openly espouse. Many European leftists also fled Europe. They set up shop in the US, and together with New Deal Democrats, they eventually merged into the Progressive left. Post Vietnam, they have been on an unending destruction spree of tearing down most cultural norms and the notion of US and western ideals as a positive notion.

There are those that know how to control perception. Those people hate the west and have a stronghold of power. They will continue to destroy us every day we decide principle and freedom are lesser to safety/security/convenience.

I blame selfishness, secularism, and hippies. This running away from God and into a hedonistic lifestyle has gnawed away at the principles of decency, dignity, and an honorable life worthy of pride.
The West needs to learn that life isn't all about reinforcing the ego, but about respect and that it isn't given, but earned.

LBJ's great society and the breakdown of the family.
Social media driven polarization.
Moving from the enlightenment into postmodern clown world.
And we haven't even hit 'hard times' yet. We are still eating high off the hog. The west is still the best place on earth to live by a long shot, but we all see the early effects of social decay creeping in.
