They absolutely ruined it. Even my kid gets pissed when he asks Alexa to play a song and she “Shuffles songs similar to what you requested”. WTF.
However, I do find myself going to the “All Access Playlists” when I do use it. At least in those playlists you can select individual songs.
The skip limit also sucks now.

quote:I downloaded the app again when they made the announcement last week and now I remember why I had to delete the Amazon Music App. It literally takes over my music play, overrides Spotify and then starts playing random music on my Echo devices in the house and in my car without the app being open. I had to delete the app to make it stop. Incredible how they could mess something up so bad.
OMG it fricking sucks now.

It is awful, they completely ruined it. I know Amazon won't pivot because they absolutely don't care anymore.

It’s almost like you have to find the one that sucks the least if you’re looking for a free one.

I think people are angry because Prime Music wasn't exactly "free"; it was included with Prime, which is already quite expensive. So a service that was previously included in the mental valuation of Prime has now moved to useless for us. Obviously not the end of the world, but also obviously frustrating.

I use the Amazon music iOS app and the desktop app and haven’t had any of these things happen. Maybe I just haven’t updated in a while?

I use it more than any other app, but not too much. Just background music on while WFH
I noticed a few are shuffled, but not enough to complain.

I used it every day at the gym and haven’t opened it since that update

I pay for Amazon music unlimited. I must say, I haven't noticed anything being discussed here. Thought about you tube music but on a pay for pay basis I didn't know if one was better than the other.
Does you tube music allow for streaming my music without using data plan

I've been paying $5/month for Amazon music unlimited for years now and haven't noticed any changes. We use it all the time.
Are these changes only for those using the free version?

I signed up for unlimited for the free three months and haven’t noticed a difference. My three months are coming to an end soon so I’m interested to see how it changes.

Own of the worst decisions ever for a service.
The mandatory shuffle ruined the prime tier.
They basically broke the prime music tier to force everyone to pay for Amazon Music Unlimited.

These changes are for Prime Music, which is included with the Amazon Prime membership. There is no “free” version. But yes, this wouldn’t affect anyone with Unlimited, which I think is where Amazon is trying to push everyone.

they changed the format and the Amazon Prime music went from 8 million songs to their entire library of 100 million songs and you can only listen with their shuffle. They are now forcing you to pay $8 a month to turn the forced shuffle off.

That's what I was going to ask.

Exactly.
And over the years I purchased a good bit of music via Amazon.

And people poke fun when I say I still buy physical media.
