Are these changes only for those using the free version?

A. It's not free. It was part of prime which costs

B. Yes

And people poke fun when I say I still buy physical media.

Oh I do. With movies, though

*ETA: I downloaded all the albums as mp3s when I purchased them, too. But streaming them was convenient.

The worst part of Prime music is Garth Brooks.

I tried using it as well, but it blows in the new format. I didn't use it at all last week when I previously used it daily.

This sounds like a feature and not a bug. Can’t imagine listening to more than 2 songs by Neil Young.

Well...considering their entire library is now part of the Prime subscription, I suspect it will be used a good bit.

i use youtube music (formerly google play) and it's worth every penny of 8 bucks a month. watching YouTube with no ads is awesome too
I used to love Google Play Music. Wasn't a fan of the switch to YT, plus the Spotify functionality in my new car at the same time made it an easy decision to move to Spotify.

The entire library is available...but in an unusual format without unlimited

Lol just realized my old Asus tablet doesn't have the latest security updates so apps can't upgrade and it has the old Amazon music app that still works

I'm genuinely surprised the app matters. I would have thought the limit on functionality would be server side.

Bought my daughter those expensive Sony noise canceling headphones last night for Christmas and they came with a free 4 month subscription to Amazon Music.

I opted out.

Amazon Music is different from Prime. It's more of a premium service with support for better-than-MP3 codecs and its own app. I subscribe to Amazon Music HD and it's pretty hard to beat, IMO. There are old Cash Money Records albums available on there that I haven't seen anywhere else.

I figured this would work because my desktop programs still work (they keep asking me to upgrade and I decline. Advantage of desktop v. Mobile)

Holy shite the shuffle crap is happening to people who pay for the full Prime Music too? I only use the "free" version that come w/my Prime account and the forced shuffle has completely ruined it to the point that I just cast Spotify onto my Echo via my phone.

I would love to know who their target audience is with this new update.

Do you just not listen to a lot of music? I switched to unlimited a while ago because of how small the "free" library was

Any updates?

I'm using YouTube music (that I get via YouTube Premium, which I am getting a free year with) and haven't looked back. I'll gladly pay the $10/month for YouTube Premium.

I am bumping b/c I just got an email from Amazon:

quote:

Hi [SFP],

As an Amazon Prime member, you have immediate access to Amazon Music. Play ad-free music, including thousands of stations and top playlists, stream millions of podcast episode.

To get the most out of Amazon Music, download the app on your phone or tablet. Or, just ask Alexa to start listening now.

I was a long time user of the service with dozens of albums purchased (that I can no longer listen to through the app even though I purchased them from Amazon). Now we get to pretend like I have never heard of it?

I don’t understand what y’all are saying. I have Amazon music, can listen to whatever I want whenever I want, haven’t ever had an issue. What am I missing?
