Are you taking it for withdrawals or for other reasons? I don't believe it'll do much for the average, healthy person's brain.

Consider chewing nicotine gum once per day for the same sort of benefits as adderall but without the side effects. Obviously, it won’t give you the same level of “up” but it definitely works. Also is showing promise in reducing the risk of Alzheimer’s.

Pretty much this. I took it for around 10 yrs before I decided to taper off and quit. It took a good 2-3 years for me to feel like I was back to normal. I strongly recommend not going down that road.

I was prescribed adderall about 15 years ago. I took 2 doses as prescribed and both times it gave me horrible headaches, extreme sleepiness, brain fog, and nausea.

Do what ever you want, because that’s what’s going to happen anyway. If you go down that path, it’s only on you, no one else. Hopefully shite doesn’t hit the fan, but if does, just remember no one made you take or drink anything, that was on you.

You shouldn’t take it unless you actually have ADD. Side effect that I see most is diarrhea. I started it at about 45 yrs old when I saw my 12-yr old struggling with ADD like I did (wasn’t called ADD when I was a kid). I wasn’t interested in him taking something with psychotic effects so I asked my doctor about testing me for ADD. My wife is a teacher and we saw that kids on Ritalin seemed a little like zombies and vowed never to put our kids on anything like that. Adderall is not Ritalin.

My prescription calls for a 20 mg tablet twice/day. I usually only take one because two will make everything come slickin out. BTW, one 20 mg tablet only lasts 3 or 4 hours.

I have never taken more than the prescribed dose and have absolutely no psychotic effects from it. It just improves focus. I read a good description of what people with ADD experience as being like your mind is a white board and there is so much written on it, in the gaps, along the sides, etc., that you can’t focus on one thing. That was a perfect description of what I deal with. I had managed to learn how to deal with it before adderall. Maybe that’s why I don’t take it very much. The focus is something I realize after the fact, usually.

It will sharply decrease your appetite and thirst. It is a miracle drug for those who need it. I don’t know what “high” May result from overuse, and I’m not interested in knowing.

Got through all 4 of my CPA exams while working full time in 6 months due to adderal’s cousin Vyvanse. It really is an amazing drug but I didn’t like the way it made me feel so I stopped

If you stay at IR and low dose once a day, you’ll be fine.

Low dose as in 10-20mg.

I took it twice during law school and didn’t notice a damn thing and actually went to sleep. I haven’t tried it again.

I was prescribed it and took it for 16 years everyday, from 10-26. It took me about a year and a half to ween myself off of it. It’s highly addictive and once you’re on it, it’s impossible to function a day without it.

The molecule of adderall is the same as methanphetamine with one hydrogen atom added. It is legal clean meth. I feel very strongly that it should never be prescribed to kids, and adults should be wise enough to not put it in their body.

If taken as prescribed...and not for prolonged periods...it's probably fine. But had 2 family members have serious problems. One just had serious anger issues...which got resolved ed because he went to doctor and got weened off. The other was full blown schizophrenia....and he is gone forever. Great guy who now tears wires out of his house because he thinks people are spying on him. Saddest thing I've ever seen in my life...and frankly there is no coming back. Please be careful with this stuff.....

It makes your heart race because it's speed.

You can drink alcohol like a fish when on adderall but your heart is in constant conflict on whether to slow down or speed up because you are on a depressant (alcohol) and speed (adderall). It's a precision dose of meth. Still very harmful and it's sad because kids will find out later in life about heart arithmyas and other bad health issues.

That's what they say. For every year you are on it, it takes a month to get back to normal and not jonesin for it. You took it for 16 years so 16 months is close to a year and a half. Congrats on quitting.

Or meth. Because they're the same thing according to half a dozen clowns in this thread.

Yep. You summed up my experience with Adderall. It didn't help that I abuse everything I can get my hands on, but this was my path too.

I tell those that ask to never even get started. Most don't listen.

I’ve been on it for over 7 years. 20mg XR daily. I don’t think I’ve ever really noticed any negative changes or side effects over the 7 years that I’ve taken it.

Just like this thread, people (that weren’t actual medical professionals) kept telling me that “I am permanently dependent on it now” and that “I won’t ever be able to stop taking it again”

I stopped taking it for a few months last year to see what it was like (and make sure they weren’t right lol). After I stopped taking it, I had maybe 1-2 days of feeling “weird”. Not bad or anything, just slightly different. After that, it was just like being back to how I was before I was prescribed to it. No “withdrawal”. Just back to having the same focus issues I had before ever taking it.

Take a dose you actually need, as prescribed (don’t go popping extras just to go party), and you’ll probably be fine.
