It uses pods (like Keurig). However, they have also said you will be able to use your owns beans/don’t need to use the pods. It can link to their app to modify the brewing method/recipe which will also be used to setup the brew for your own beans.

It uses pods of whole beans which are then grinded, so not really like a Keurig.

This is a fancy drip machine...
I would buy the hell out of it though

Yeah I should have said that.

I keep debating if it is worth it. I doubt I would pay full retail price of $800.
But you can get it for 50% off through the Kickstarter, along with 32 pods to get you started.

There are plenty of drip machines that mimic a pour over already, is this one any different?

I use the Cuisinart PourPrecision Pour Over and am very pleased with the taste. I got it on sale at the Williams Sonoma outlet mall in Vero Beach just before they shut down last year - I paid 60 bucks for it on clearance. I would pay 3x that, easily. The coffee is so smooth.

Currently using Bunn MyCafe with pods(not Kcups). Those are getting hard to find, so this looks promising.

I have a Braun MultiServe right now. Used to have an OXO Barista Brain. Both are great drip coffee makers.
For the price of this xBloom thing you could buy either a Braun, OXO, Cuisinart, Technivoorm, Bonavita drip machine, a Baratza grinder, and a Hario v60/digital scale/gooseneck kettle plus have money left over for good quality beans.
This xBloom looks neat, but not particularly useful and prohibitively expensive. Almost $800 to get one cup of coffee and it requires their own pods. Nah. Also, can the grinder be accessed? How do you clean or service the burrs?

How is this better than the Chemex Ottomatic 2.0 or the Technivorm Moccamaster?
IS it just the ability to use pods?
IS it just the ability to use pods?

What’s a good drip coffee set up outside of this? Looking to get away from strictly espresso

Technivorm Moccamaster, Baratza Encore or Capresso Infinity Plus grinder, good beans, good water.
Amazon has a red Moccamaster for $200 right now. That’s a great deal. Any SCA certified drip brewer is good though.

We love ours. We have a SMEG burr grinder for the beans.
