PLAYERS ONLY MEETINGS WILL BE A JOKE UNTIL......

I agree with Greg McElroy and other Coaches who chimed in on these LSU Players only meetings. Unless you have a couple of older JR or Senior guys speaking and " don't forget, these guys have to be "Respected" by the other players. All of this is a waste of time. If you start the meeting and players keep chirping in and the next thing you know you have 25 players all wanting to state something,then you have NO LEADERS on the team.
Daniels calling a Players only meeting was the biggest joke in Baton Rouge. He is Not respected by the team. He is a great nice guy but he is not the person who should be calling a team meeting. That was a total joke.

Ask any College Football player on a team. They usually know exactly who should be starting at QB because they know who they will 'ball out for' and also, they usually can tell you who should be the leader on the team.

I have no issue with a players only meeting, as long as it doesn't delve into finger pointing and such. Which this one seemingly didn't.

I'm not willing to go that far. But it is not uncommon for 1st year coaches to "lose the team" to some degree if things are not going well. Almost every player on the team played for a different coaching staff last season. So there is a natural adjustment period where the players and coaches have to learn to trust each other and that what they are doing is the correct approach to achieve success. If/when you lose games the trust of the players in the staff lessens.
You also have to remember that 18-22 year old kids are fickle. We all were at that age. Last year LSU got embarrassed by Kentucky. Everyone was certain Ed had "lost the team" (myself included)...only for them to come out and dominate Florida the next week. Ed was then "fired". LSU didn't play well vs. Ole Miss. Most felt they would just go through the motions with a lame duck coach the rest of the way. Instead, they came out and arguably outplayed #2 Alabama. So I'm always hesitant to say a group of college players are "done".

Great comparison. Rohan, saved Nick's azz that year.
Some guys are just Game day players and are horrible in Practice. Coaches usually know the difference.

Just sign 35 high school players with 1/3 to 1/2 being 3 stars and grab another 10 of 2/low 3 star malcontents from the portal to attempt and fill the roster to 85.
