The dude isn't a pure rush the passer DE. He's the hybrid mold DE/LB that is actually better in space than getting sacks. If the Jags drafted him thinking he was going to be a sack machine, that's on them bc that's never who he was at LSU.

In 2019, he did a damn good job of playing the run, dropping into coverage when asked and occasionally winning one on ones thanks to Shelvin. Def wasn't some force from a pass rushing stand point. All said, he was a damn good player and Aranda used him really well.

I don’t think Chaisson and Wiggins are comparable at all outside of experience. Quency is damn near 6’7 and 270+. His arms of of ridiculous length. Just some solid coaching should turn him into at least a solid college player with the potential to be a first round draft pick and contribute early and often in his NFL career. He reminds me of Arik Armstead

Yeah but he made some big plays that year. I forgot he made as many plays as he did until I went back and watched a couple games.

He had 2 fists full of grabbed jersey all game. They finally called holding once or twice near the end of the game.

He is a smaller version of Jared Allen on the team. He has the speed to play linebacker and the new hybrid linebacker that can cover tight ends and running backs. He can also come off the edge on blitz packages he is valuable to the jags because he is still on the rookie contract. I have watched him here since he has been drafted he is just starting to understand gap assignments and coverages as a linebacker in the NFL.

I don’t follow the jags much, is he really a risk of being cut?

They drafted his replacement with the #1 pick. But according to Over the Cap, his cap hit would go from $3,639,439 to $6,069,158. They should move him. A trade would only cost them half of his cap number.

Chiasson, to me, is allot like Sam Montgomery. Loads of talent but lacking in the motivation to work and play as hard as he is capable of

Well like many many first round draft picks he only had one good college year. Very common for NFL teams to do this. They draft potential and measurements. He’s very young let’s see how he does. He was great in 2019 and for an LSU fan to diminish his contribution is very typical. Never seen a fan base so ready to chit on its own.

I remember when we played Oklahoma in our bowl game seeing Chaisson run down Ok's CeeDee Lamb from behind
from a standing start. How does a guy who can do that not make it in the NFL ?

No I aint. I was basicly agreeing with the OP and people get twisted when folks who have an opinion other than the one they like on the rant.

If he gets cut, it's because of effort. He has all the tools.

How is that shitting on him?
