re: Give me Hurd game 2 in Eauxmaha
Posted by burymeinTS on 6/12/23 at 11:41 am
Back to the topic at hand, if both guys are throwing strikes with their offspeed, Hurd is significantly better than Floyd. He has a plus breaking pitch.
This. Floyd couldn't spot his offspeed for strikes yesterday and a veteran lineup like Kentucky was able to sit fastball and mak...

I agree that Floyd is looking very strong in his last few starts. BP debacle against State overshadowed what was a fantastic day for him.
We’re Jekyll and Hyde out of the bullpen. Herring, Guidry and Hurd can pitch great and have recently. But they also can have control issues which is still in...

Bodie and Choup, don’t waste your energy with ranters trying to have any dialogue about this team. It’s clear to anyone with eyes that things have changed with this team in the last 3 weeks. Our bats aren’t consistently saving the day like they have all season. We haven’t been as clutch and have ou...

Brings up a question for me: will the post season umps be a net benefit to SEC teams? Bigger zone obviously helps the pitchers but teams like LSU have had plate discipline and a ton of walks. ...
re: This team relies too much on the longball

The first 2 innings pissed me off with stranded RISP but we finally made them pay. Crews getting his mojo back. White doing what he does. Pearson out of nowhere. Def like what I’m seeing. ...

Bad thread title which is my bad.
Should have been “have we been relying on the long ball too much lately?” rather than a statement. I wanted to see what people thought. ...

Not sure I follow your point. My question is as of late have we been relying on the long ball too much to score runs? It feels to me like that lately we are having less basehit rallies/2 out rallies, more groundball outs and too many stranded RISP. Mid season I thought we actually excelled ...

And despite ranking that high statistically, we’ve lost 4 of our last 7 SEC games. I’m evaluating what it’s going to take for us to win, not how we compare to other teams. Bottom line is our bullpen is trash and we will have to score 10+ runs a game. Is that fair to the offense, hell no, but it’s wh...

I said it in the OP and I’ll say it again, the Achilles’ heel of this team is clearly pitching, so with that said, our team is going to have to score a shite load of runs. I’m not saying it’s fair to our offense, just the truth.
Thinking specific to last nights game. The extra inning bombs from P...

I don’t expect us to stop hitting home runs or even want that. But we will have to produce runs in other ways if we want to be good teams IMO especially if we make it to the big ball park in Omaha....
This team relies too much on the longball
Posted by burymeinTS on 5/19/23 at 7:20 am
Reflecting on last night. Felt like early to mid season, we did a nice job of moving runners around, especially with 2 outs. Not sure if our inability to start a basehit rally has to do with Crews and Dugas tailing off or seeing better pitching. Thompson also had a tear where he had some clutch 2 ou...

Map for Chandeleur Islands

Planning a trip and will be my second time going out to Chandy using the little skiffs without electronics (depth finder, GPS). The first trip was great and we caught plenty of fish but I didn’t love flying blind. Learned a lot and I’d love to carry that knowledge forward to this trip. Wanting to d...

Agree with most of your take:
D scheme clearly gave up short stuff to protect from chunk plays. Only works if you can get after their QB or he gets impatient and takes a big shot. Neither one of those things happened.
Safeties were a surprise and looked good.
Corners looked fine in outside zone...
re: K'Lavon with the swat move

The dude isn't a pure rush the passer DE. He's the hybrid mold DE/LB that is actually better in space than getting sacks. If the Jags drafted him thinking he was going to be a sack machine, that's on them bc that's never who he was at LSU.
In 2019, he did a damn good job of playing the run, dro...
re: New saltwater Rods

I have the multiple Waterloo Salinity rods in spin and baitcast. For throwing jigs, I've not found a more sensitive rod at that price point (~$160).
I have one rod that no one else can fish with and it's the Fishing Tackle Unlimited "Green Rod". Best rod that I've owned. But it's almost $400...
