You can be proud of LSU and its current and past coaches. A couple of months ago, my twin brother was in a Shreveport hospital diagnosed with terminal cancer. He was putting up a great fight, but the disease had just overwhelmed him.
Evidently some of his co-workers, in management, I assume, had notified someone at the university about his battle and what a great LSU fan he was. When I visited him one day back then, he had a smile from ear to ear; he said you never guess who called. Well, Dale Brown had called him, spoke to him about 10 minutes and gave him encouragement. Later he sent him two autographed books that he had written. And when the books came in, a large photo of Les Miles, and on it a message from Miles that said “Fight like a Tiger”. Also included was a LSU cap with Miles’ initials inside. My twin was so proud, so happy and grateful.
I cannot tell you how much joy that brought to my brother. That these fine gentlemen took time to bring peace and happiness to someone they did not know, it just says so much about them. I lost a brother since then, but I gained a couple of heroes. All of you can be proud of LSU and our coaches that go beyond the call.

Great story. Sorry about your brother, man. I lost my older sister to cancer back in June. That shows you the type of guys that Dale Brown and Les Miles are. It goes way deeper than football and it is good to know they are impacting young men's lives in that way.

Wow, what a compelling story and one that made the eyes get a little moist.
A beautiful example of the LSU family coming to the aid of one in need.

I've always said that I would rather LSU lose a game coached by Miles than win a game coached by many, many other college coaches.
The same principle applied to Dale Brown back in the day.

I'm truly sorry to hear about your brother. I know you would give anything and everything to change the situation, but it still wouldn't be enough. Stay strong and thanks for sharing the story. My little brother got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a week ago. We haven't told Mom, yet.

I am so sorry for your loss. My brother died in a car wreck 4 years ago tomorrow. Nothing compares to losing a sibling. You somehow know that you'll probably go through the death of your parents, and possibly your spouse, but for some reason losing my brother was so overwhelming.
He was gone so suddenly, that there were no goodbyes, but I know that I've always been grateful that he saw the Tigers win that 2003 National Championship!!

First, my sympathy goes out to you and your family for such a loss and continued sad times. I pray that God gives you all comfort and strength.
Second, thanks for sharing this story. It is great to know that these men have their priorities in order and can take the time to try and bring happiness to others. I have always known that coach Miles was a good, caring person. God bless him and Dale for their kindess.

PapaChief,
From one Proud LSU fan to another, I'm extending my heartfelt condolences on the loss of your brother. We are part of a Great Tiger Family.
It's obvious that I have spent very little time in the TD Forum, but I read your post this morning while thinking about my brother-in-law who lost his battle with cancer in 2005.
Hope you don't mind if I share a similiar experience with you. Prior to the very late stages of his cancer, he was weak and didn't have the strength to get to his seats in Tiger Stadium. The anguish on his face was heart wrenching for a huge Tiger Fan. I loved him as much as I love my brothers. Wrote a letter to our former LSU AD, Skip, about his battle with cancer. Much to my surprise, Skip called my home to extend a personal invitation that would allow him to watch our LSU Tigers in his suite. I'll never forget the look on his face when I surprised him with this gracious invitation from LSU. Skip and his wonderful wife, Sandy rolled out the Royal Purple & Gold carpet for our family that day. The smile on my brother-in-law's face was priceless. He was so HAPPY and was able to finally enjoy watching a game in comfort. We took many pictures, he received autograph balls, hat, Game Day Program, etc. He wore that autographed hat during his last days in this World. LSU gave him an awesome gift and gave our family memories that will last forever
We're blessed to have Great leaders on and off the field and The Best Tiger Family in college football.
Forever LSU!!!!!!!!!!!
