That continues up the east coast as well.

Not any more.

what happened baw?

I do not know Roy, but he is absolutely correct on his opinion of the Todd. He is the most egotistical person I have ever meet. The old saying about buying someone for what he is worth and selling him for what he thinks he is worth was written for Todd.

Everyone of those Atlantic Coast pogy ships has relocated to Louisiana.

Yep, can confirm. Fished the Atlantic this year. Made ~ 100 miles off shore. Never saw a pogey boat, and cast netted shitload of pogies.

Is the population collapse happening in certain areas of the state? I've been in Grand Isle and Fourchon 4 times in the last 3 months and hammered reds every trip.

Step 2: no more bowfishing
Step 3: no more guided fishing trips
Step 4: eliminate all fishing recreational activities so the wildlife can "let nature run its course"
Or just lower the limit to 3 a person and make Redfish a game fish that can't be shot with a bow.

If you are in a bay boat or skiff then you are most likely using a trolling motor in those areas instead of mud motors
Those dudes do it for the sport of it, you could eliminate redfish from bow fishing snd get very little push back, except from the diehards.

CCA attempted to have a bill submitted to ban bowfishing for reds, there was considerable push back.

No doubt on a weekend, the grand isle/leeville complex also has more bowfisherman than anywhere else in the state. If you had a helicopter, how many fishing rigs would you find in that same complex during the day? 300?
I literally fly for a living and the amount of recreational boats in the GI/Leeville/Cocodrie are since COVID has skyrocketed. Weekdays there will be 50 boats and on weekends with good weather triple that easily.
Not to mention 1/3 of the fricken marsh is gone after IDA. The Leeville area has lost at least 1000 acres of marsh. Areas that used to be shallow ponds and drains is now just an open water flat.
As far as the bow fishing comments, anti-bow fishing people are just being ignorant. I go bow fishing a lot in the area. With 5 or 6 guys every time we go, and we rarely ever limit out. Never shoot under slot reds. The majority of the fish we shoot are sheepshead anyway.

Thanks for that. I’ve been bowfishing now for 17 years. I’m always shocked how this board thinks it’s a huge deal. I would say we see another bowfishing rig on 25% of trips, most of those being on weekends.
Most peoples exposure to bowfishing consists of going on a bachelor trip with one of the guides in leeville. Nowhere else in the state has even close to that much pressure
If it is the number of fish being taken from bowfishing, that’s just a horrible take. The rod and reel fleet takes 100x more any day of the week. It would be a laughable stat.
I could get behind it changing fish patterns or effecting their behavior because they are being pressured in a different way than usual. If they came out and said bowfishing has population level impacts because of the method of take, I’d be cool with stopping.
In a lot of ways it may be like dog hunting. The way they are being hunted may cause negatives beyond just the ones you kill.
I have high confidence that commercial fishing, private/public water access, and habitat loss are much larger threats to recreational fisherman. My bowfishing posts always get downvoted so I’ll shut up.

We know different bow fisherman. The ones I see have dual mud motors

blow boats
Are as much if not more destructive to coastal marsh compared to surface drives. Airboats smash vegetation and cause soil depression. The marsh is that sensitive around grand isle and leeville.
