Why is AirBnB so full of shite?

Because you're only looking at 1 night. The service and cleaning fee stays the same if you are booking say 5 nights so it wouldn't be double.

For 1 night stays, it's harder to find value in STR's

You know the cleaning fee is going to be there. Change that from a night to a week and the fees go from double to like 10%. If you aren't aware of how this works by now, that's your fault.

Hotels don't bill maid service separately. Air BnB apparently does. Read the full agreement and this won't make you outraged, it will just make you informed.

Don't know what's in this "service fee", I'd assume they put service fees in there like everyone else to help adjust for inflation.

The cleaning fee is standard.

Airbnb, and similar sites, are not the most economical when it comes to single night stays. When I rented out my beach condo I always pointed out that you had a kitchen available and didn't have to eat out for every meal which saves big bucks. That was important for families with kids that didn't want to pack up their stuff at the beach for every meal

The cleaning fee isn't decided by AirBNB.

Because so many people search by lowest price


AirBnB was ruined when people started buying properties for the sole reason of renting it out via airbnb.

That cleaning fee is entirely up to the host, not Airbnb
