Aby taco shop that ends in "bertos" is highly recommended. Have a california burrito for me at one of them. Lived there 2004-2008 and miss those taco shops

Just got back from a week in La Jolla/SD. Here’s my food drink/review:
Best meal: Cesarina. Might be the best house made pasta I’ve ever had. Amazing. A little out of the way and not really by anything else though.
Runner Up: Herb and Wood. Great vibe, huge bustling place.
Best Breakfast: Brockton Villa La Jolla. Great view too, though depending on the wind, you’ll get the sea lion stink
Places we stopped for drinks that I recommend: Kettner Exchange, Craft and Commerce, Birdseye Rooftop.
C&C was definitely a funky vibe with its taxidermy theme, but fun for a pre dinner drink.
Food at Kettner looked great, but we did not partake. Drink was excellent.
Birdseye La Jolla was next to our hotel. Small little rooftop place that we hit for a sunset drink and some good empanadas.
We Olive Ja Jolla. Just a cute little wine bar in La Jolla, so don’t go out of your way, but it had a nice view, good charcuterie board, and good wine.
Already mentioned but George’s on the Cove has a ridiculous view and the food was good enough to warrant going.
Also enjoyed tacos from Puesto and the Taco Stand for lunch.
Others:
Nine Ten La Jolla. It was good but selected more due to its location by our hotel. Wouldn’t go out of my way
Monello Little Italy: Again, quite good, but Cesarina blew it out of the water
AR Valentien Torrey Pines: Good and was cool to see the resort and golf course, but wouldn’t go out of my way.
Herringbone La Jolla: cool vibe, very good. Wouldn’t venture all the way to La Jolla just for this place, but if anyone stays out that way, it’s excellent

It’s a bit grittier than PB or MB but maybe worth a shot.
Yeah OB was a tad different vibe than La Jolla was. Lol.
But the sunset view from the OB Brewery rooftop was awesome

We are doing Born and Raised for my wife’s birthday dinner It wasn’t her first choice, but some places are closed on Tuesday nights. I expect we’ll have a good time.
The decor alone will impress her.
If you like beer, Ballast Point’s taproom in Little Italy is cool to hang out at.

parma in little Italy is also very good but make reservations because it is small

Excellent mahi tacos at the Brigantine in Del Mar overlooking the race track. Check out the coastal towns of Del Mar, Solana Beach, Encinitas & Cardiff for some cool restaurants and the laid-back surfer vibe.

Won’t have time to hit those places on this trip unfortunately, but if we like it as much as we think we will we’ll be back soon.

High end eats: Marine Room(ocean crashes into building during high tide), George’s, Seneca, Market, Island Prime, Mister A’s
All of these spots have incredible views except Market.
Check out Kate Sessions park. Incredible views of the city and can see all the way to Mexico on clear days.
Best beaches are pacific beach and mission beach. Also check out mission bay. Have a drink outside at the catamaran hotel overlooking the Bay.
Lived in Pacific Beach for a few years but now in Bay Park. I can see mission bay and the ocean from my couch. It’s beautiful.

You should hit Point Loma Seafoods and check out their jaw-dropping smoked fish selection. I just wish they shipped ...

and the chicken/cheese fries there are killer.
Everyone has named lots of great spots so I wont clutter it more.
However, If there is even a decent band in town, go see a show at Humphreys on the bay. Awesome venue.
in august I see father john misty, Shaky graves, the head and the heart, and several others
