I'm back baw. One last run to stack as much cash as possible, and then I'm headed off to finish my degree in Nursing. Time to make Tiktoks and be called a hero!

Yep,it sounds like the boys are all getting back together. A friend of mine is going back on the boat. He is a captain with years of experience on offshore supply boats. When he got laid off a few years ago he swore he was never going on the boats again.

Yep. Got a call about a month ago from the consulting firm I was with in 2016 to gauge interest on coming back to West Africa for Chevron.

I miss that 3 & 3 schedule. No better feeling than the chopper ride to the beach knowing you have 3 weeks off.

I’m trying and willing to settle for half of what I used to make to stay away from getting back in the oil field.

I took a pay cut to leave as well (not 50%, but I primarily worked on the production side of the business) and don’t really have any interest in going back. It took me like 5 years to finally overcome that initial salary hit.

The biggest issue to me is that everything is so specialized, you can easily get pigeon-holed from a career standpoint. So it’s like starting over if/when the next price war hits. That’s without factoring in the time away from home, stress, (sometimes) shitty living conditions, etc.

Im a geoscientist by trade. Since finishing grad school I've drilled conventional, worked deep water, sat in a frac van, and worked on the big data side managing analytical software for one of the O&G data providers.

I left in January to manage analytical software for the supply chain world.

A part of me says I'll never go back, but who really knows.

Ive been involved in every aspect of the Oilfield for 25 years. Once this boom crashes Im done with it. Ill groom dogs or greet at Wal Mart. I dont care, but I have enough with the being gone part.

I would gladly pay more at the pumps to keep from buying Russian oil.

Call me crazy but i am leaving my oilfield job of 14 years going to another industry. And in 1 year I’ll make back what i have lost with my 20% paycut i have taken the last 2 years. And no real raise since the Deepwater horizon incident.

I’m leaving at the wrong time, but in 5 years I’ll be glad i left.

It's not for me, too each his own.

Maybe if I'd double/triple my salary, but that's not likely.
