All the mainstream groups don't even allude to it, while AU higher-ups sort of do (eg. "parsing fact from friction" over rumors), and then there's a lot of direct comment from the non-mainstream media types.

Probably because alleging an affair with a subordinate is a pretty serious charge and one that you don't report unless you have some really good evidence of it.

Probably attempting to protect the girl and avoid a giant lawsuit, since her face has become so public. No chance they address that unless it’s proven or admitted to.

Jimbo is right about the hypocrisy. Brian Kelly sexually assaulted multiple Alabama recruits. Did he cover it up like JoePa or Art Briles? Hell no, he put the videos of his nonconsensual boy-grind on the internet for everyone to see. Why can Kelly do that but Harsin can't help a nice girl find a job in the middle of nowhere?

Probably because they aren't sure if it is legit or a scummy move by some Auburn folks to get rid of a coach they can't control.

What is the actual basis for the rumor? How did it get out?

Not every distinguished member of the media has balls of steel like Sliced Bread.

They could also be referring to the rumors of Harsin mistreating staff and players.
