But really.. who gives a shite about the campus when it comes down to things. Lets play football, get paid and talk trash.
I think the campus is very much a part of the football experience when visiting another program for an athletic event.

.but being Greek at TAMU is worse than being in the Corps.
I have never understood this. Can some of the Aggies please explain the bias against Greeks there, if there is one?

School being in session, or not, has nothing to do with a layout of campus or the architectural design of the campus buildings.
but its avery different vibe when school is in session. I've heard it said that Texas A&M has one of the most beautiful campus' in the country, from the ankles down.
Unless architecture is you think, I find your criticism some what odd. Who really cares if the architecture is bland?

I think the architecture at places like Ole Miss, Georgia, LSU, or Alabama is what makes them so appealing. I was just expecting a school of A&M's stature to be more along those lines.

Do all Aggies live in dorms on campus? Serious question
no, there are 50,000 + students.

Greek houses depend on if they're on campus or not as far as when they can move in, but all are moved in at this point. Most people are back by the beginning of August (when most leases start).
wow, no other school I've ever heard of is like that. At LSU most people moved back in the week before school started. All my friends at other schools the same. Hell, we still have interns working in our office. They leave next week. I never had a lease that was locked in by the 1st of the month in college either.

Well for people that live off campus, they never usually even leave. Most upperclassmen live in Lexington year around because most leases are 12 months.

Aggies could speak much better to this, but A&M went thru an incredible growth period in the 70s that hurts here. They didn't let women in until 70-71 or so. After that it exploded.

Yeah the first level at the open end. Don't expect to go down to the concessions and be back in 5 minutes. Be prepared to miss an entire quarter. There are two portals for 5000 people to cram through. It's a nightmare to get to and from the seats, plus theres always lines in the isles from the backup so it blocks the view because you're practically looking sideways to see the field. Worst visiting seats I've ever sat in.

obviously that's your bag. I don't even like the architecture at LSU, I've never like the Mediterranean style.
For me the game day experience is about the atmosphere. The people, the buzz. I've never been to Bama's campus, only LSU games I saw there were at Legion Field. Auburn was nice i suppose.

Most of the Greeks I knew at TAMU were considered outcasts because they didn't go along with the group think at TAMU.
That and Greek life at TAMU sucks anyway, so they were the less cooler group of dweebs.

We always moved back in at Alabama about 5-7 days prior to classes starting.

Y'all missed out. The three weeks after everyone got back and before classes started were always the best. Not shite to do but drink all day then bars at night.

How many of them hang around on campus? I'm willing to bet, even there, the campus is pretty dead right now, especially compared to what it will be like in a couple of weeks when actual classes start. Even people that I knew in college that keep the same apartment for years, went home for al least part of the summer.

Most "off campus" housing is right on the perimeter and so are most bars. So while it's not technically campus, it's basically considered as such.

too early to do a ranking of SEC towns including CS?

Because of our traditions, the student body is far more assimilated than you see at other schools. We go to fish camp to learn the yells and bath in the blood of maroon unicorns until we only see Aggie.
This is why people call us a cult and generally don't understand us.

Agreed Capstone on feeling underwhelmed. Not trying to insult anyone here, but I've always thought that A&Ms campus is probably the ugliest of all the major schools I've visited...which is a good number. This is coming from someone who really admired A&M in high school and considered applying (one of my favorite hats is an Aggies hat). I think the stadium is up to par, but the campus is very bland. Sorry.
ETA: Cool bar scene though. No doubt about it.
