Ash and McCoy are far better than Gilbert
Given how Gilbert turned out I get how you could say this. However.....

Gilbert through first six games last season

CMP: 118
ATT: 196
YDS: 1213
CPM%: 60.20%
YDS/A: 6.19
TD: 4
INT: 5

Now a combo of Ash+McCoy through the first 6 games of this year....

CMP: 81
ATT: 132
YDS: 910
CPM%: 61.36%
YDS/A: 6.89
TD: 5
INT: 4

Gilbert played against the following teams in 2010 Rice (4-8), Wyoming (3-9), Texas Tech (7-5), UCLA (4-8), Sooners (12-2), and Huskers (9-4).

Ash+McCoy have played the following teams Rice (2-5), BYU (6-2), UCLA (3-4), Iowa State (3-4), Sooners (6-1), Ok State (7-0).

I would say the two schedules line up pretty evenly through six games and the stats from the two QB groups is extremely comparable. This is why I am having a hard time getting on board with why you think they are obviously better. Through the first six games last year people thought Gilbert is a young QB he will get it going to close the year and then BAM!!! He turns into a big ole turd......

Also just FWIW I am no longhorn hater I am a Tiger fan who watches the horns because of family

This is a very good point. Though I knew many horn fans already comparing him to Chris Simms (which is as close to calling them the devil as possible).

I'm a tiger fan that also likes watching other teams play.

With the recent success (98-08), media love Texas gets and their past recruiting rankings it's easy for people that don't follow closely to assume Texas is better Thsnksgiving they are this year.

But if you watch them they are horribly low on talent. The media says they are just so young but they have more Sr and Jr starters than almost all of the B12. It's just on offense the most visible players are young (Brown, McCoy, Shipley, Ash).

But that begs the question. How does a team with top 5 recruiting classes every year get so young??

Major was always the better quarterback.

And their lives turned out very different.

One of them is a bench riding druggie backup in the NFL and the other is a fairly decent offensive coordinator who's done stints at Syracuse, Alabama, Rice and now Texas.

It's no secret that Mack is a lazy arse on the recruiting front. Maybe it has more to do with the development of talent? Seems like other schools are doing fine with players from Texas.

I'd like to see some proof of this. I know I heard they had over 20 freshmen getting regular playing time.

A few busts here and there, bad coaching, and some players leaving early for the NFL can all hurt.

10)North Texas

How do you rank Houston at 7

SMU, TCU, and Houston are probably all better than Texas
