Looking at previous results to date, and their rest of the schedule, it is not unreasonable to bet that Texas will beat Kansas and then lose out.

Don't forget getting blown out by an OU team whose signature win is over an unranked Florida State team.

Their play on the field, did you watch any of their games last or watch any of their games this year?
Yes my mother and law is living with us while their new home is built. Big longhorn fan. The passing game still sucks, the Defense still makes mistakes, and the running game is only putting up better numbers because they have run it more.

Have you actually watched the games? Or just the box scores and LHN commercials?

Edit: They were lucky to pull out a win vs BYU who is a very average team.

Their defense and offense are improved over last year. They have a legitimate running game with a stud in Malcolm Brown. You point to their weak schedule thus far, but two of the teams you mentioned beat Texas last year. That's why I say they are a better team.

Which would mean no bowl for the second year in a row.
Also calling shenanigans on the four crystal ball at the top of that website when they've only won one.

I have watched a few of the game when I haven't been a the LSU games. I never said they were going to a BCS bowl, I said they are better than last year and not the 7th best team in the state of Texas.

Their defense certainly has problems, but that could improve before the end of the season. The passing game is atrocious, but it might get better if they decide on a quarterback.

yeah, and in one of those years, they lost their bowl game but still claimed a national title.

I wonder how many schools have claimed titles in years in which they lost their last game...

If that happens, Mack Brown will be fired.

Okay so basically are saying by the end of the year if they make improvements then they could be one of the better teams in Texas? So then currently they should be ranked in the middle of the pack with Houston, Baylor, SMU, etc.

Also Brown is good but he is the entire offense, even if they go with Ash or McCoy the rest of the way both are young QB's and will not make a difference if just one plays the entire game.

Sweet Lord.

They "could improve," they "might get better." Yeah, I agree, they MIGHT--but right fricking now they're straight up dogshit, and lucky to be the 7th best team in the state. They MIGHT beat kansas--but I could easily see them losing to tech, baylor, kstate, etc.

No, I think even with their current problems they could beat Houston, SMU, and TCU. Baylor would be a toss-up right now.

Meh, young quarterbacks can do great things. I'm not saying either one of them is the next Colt, Bradford, or Landry Jones but they could certainly dial in some good plays.

No doubt, but with what they have shown thus far this season both will be more apt at dialing up a WTF play instead.

Also Houston, SMU, and TCU would score on the horns. IMO the Horns would have to lean on the run to beat those teams. As I have just 0 confidence in either of the QB's doing anything to win them a game. Those games would be close though and not just an auto win for UT.

I would be more likely to call those three a toss up and put Baylor at a loss

can you comment on Texas without using the words "could", "may", "might", "possibly" and "maybe"?

They could beat Houston--SMU would top the sips.

Both baylor and TCU would beat the horns right now.

Yeah, they CAN do great things--but usually don't. Young QB's are more known for doing the stupid things that get you beat, and both of texas' pitiful offerings at QB have enough combined stupid in them to lose mack brown his job if he's not careful.

We're talking about hypothetical match-ups, correct? Using the terms "could", "may" is the only appropriate way to approach a hypothetical because you simply cannot know for certain the outcome.

It's like saying that if LSU played Stanford tomorrow, Andrew Luck would be sacked 15 times. That might happen, but it's not a certainty.

I simply said that the Horns defense, offense, and QB play is not better than last years with what they have done to date. Not hypothetical they are either worse or equal to last year’s team in terms of performance.

You are the one that said they "could" improve as the season goes on. Given what they have done to date I have no reason to believe they will make this jump. At least not until bowl season with the extra practices (if they make it to one).

We are talking about the state of texas football right now (re: shambles). We already know they've struggled to beat average teams THIS year, and they have shown nothing to indicate their fortunes will change against teams they lost to last year (i.e., Baylor, whom you have a hard time believing texas will lose to again).

We DO know this with certainty--texas football was garbage in 2010, and it's looking like more of the same in 2011 so far.

And I disagree with this statement. Ash and McCoy are far better than Gilbert. I don't think you can even question that seriously. Also, they have a running game that makes their offense better than last year. The defense is probably about equal to where they were last year.

Fair enough. I should clarify what I was saying. I think right now they could beat Tech and Baylor. I know that sounds crazy since Tech beat OU, but I think that was a fluke. JMO. If they make some improvements, a win over A&M is not out of the question.

And for the record, I refuse to talk to an aggie about this topic. They have an irrational hatred of all things related to Texas and cannot be reasoned with.
