One look from a Big XII official at Tulane home game attendance and that will end this talk.
If Tulane were in the Big 12, attendance would triple.

This is a "leaked rumor" that is nothing more than a shameless attempt to get LSU to vote no against Mizzou

I'm sure they'd be excited, going from 500 to 1500.

I will video the pregame and half-time show tomorrow so let me know if you want me burn you a disc. Sorry you won't be there to see your child perform but have a great day anyhow. From one band dad to another peace be with you.

Tulane should just play in Tad Gormley, that way it'd look like they have a full stadium.
Hell Maybe they'd be better at Pan-Am stadium.

This is the most stupid thing i have ever read here.

But bad for LSU. Anything that adds legitimacy to Tulane and gives another AQ conference a presence in Louisiana threatens the near-monopoly that LSU currently enjoys in recruiting in this talent-rich state.
Johnnydrama is spot on. While the SEC is (hopefully) looking for schools that will increase the pie, not just splits of the pie, the Big 12 has different motives. Stitch together a lot respectible enough for the winner of the TX/OU game to run the table and lobby for a slot in the BCS championship.
For their part, Tulane should jump on this if offered and OU, Texas, and others can get that recruiting exposure in NO, just like A&M is supposed to be bringing to Texas for the SEC.
BTW, it doesn't matter the number of years in an agreement or buyout to leave. The Big 12 exists and folds at the leisure of Texas.

TigerRantMan, you've already made a dumbass out of yourself once in this thread.
I wasn't going to comment here because it isn't worth my time and not the subject of this thread, but when folks like you flap their gums and go off half-cocked, I guess I should reply.
No, I won't be supporting my "kid" in a dead, empty Superdome when Tulane plays Syracuse tonight.
My "kid" is over 21, a senior, and is attending a sorority convention in Austin, Texas this weekend.
She will rejoin the band during Mardi Gras parade season.
Her ostensible reason for not playing during the football season is so she can concentrate on academics. That's commendable, and she's a fully grown woman anyway, so she makes her own decisions.
However, one big reason the TUMB is not growing, is that after 2-3 years of spending 8 hours on Saturday in an empty Superdome at home and then taking exhausting road trips--all to watch Tulane get slaughtered--well, after awhile kids get tired.
Not that I owe YOU any explanation, dumbass, but I "supported my kid" to the tune of spending my money and time for the last couple years cooking gumbo and jambalaya for the band during band camp.
Let me say that the band director, Barry Spanier, and the band were very appreciative and I think highly of Barry.
The word from the Tulane mossback alumni on message boards? Bitching and moaning because the guy doing the cooking was wearing an LSU cap.
shite like this turned me off to the Tulane fanbase--they cannot accept someone being a fan of both schools and laughably think they still have a "rivalry" with LSU.
The Tulane students have more sense than the alumni and boosters--many are LSU football fans because they realize the "rivalry" is long dead and gone; LSU football is worlds above Tulane football.
Combine delusional fans with a narcissistic president who is slowly killing what little life is in Tulane athletics so all the attention can be showered on him, and that is why Tulane is now simply the school my adult daughter attends.
I am an LSU fan, booster and soon-to-be graduate student: my adult daughter goes to Tulane and my money and support go to LSU.
Wavefan, no hard feelings, you didn't know and made a nice gesture.
On the other hand TigerRantMan, if you want to open your mouth and start talking about things you know nothing about again, I'll be glad to set you straight again.
