I for one will give the Green Weenies a break. I hope they get into the Big 12. It can only help their program and Heaven knows they need it.

I'm sure that the Longhorns, Sooners and Cowboys are all pissing in their pants at the thought of how to compete with Tulane.

Why did you quote me? That has absolutely nothing to do with what I said.

If some little frick-tard wants to go to Tulane to play football over LSU, good riddance.

Tulane fans right now are like the five dollar crack whore--willing to suck anyone and do anything to not be left behind.

They are willing to suck off almighty Texas and bow down to them: "Oh yessss, almighty Longhorns! You can run the conference! Just let us in!"

This Longhorn elitism that caused A & M and others with real athletic programs get pissed off and leave is what Toolame is grabbing on to like a lifeline.

I don't think Mizzou is a good fit for the SEC and yes, it's a matter of protection of territory.

It's in LSU's best interest to vote against Mizzou just to prevent the astronomically remote chance the the Big 12--dictated by the Shorthorns--gets desperate and invites Toolame to try and make inroads into Louisiana.

Toolame has nothing to offer the Big 12, unless 500 fans--in real numbers--per game and a student section you can count on one hand--are "something."

The Greenies are a non-factor here. They are reduced to begging that they get an invite for factors that have nothing to do with their athletic department.

Their few fans want this to "piss LSU off."

This is most probably a leak by AD Rick Dickson to take some heat off himself for the joke of an athletic department at Tulane.

AND--Tulane's President, Scott Cowen, is a narcissist who would like to make Tulane a poor man's University of Chicago and do away with Division I athletics.

At this stage he's probably right, but make no mistake--Cowen fancies himself the Savior of Tulane while he's destroying it academically and athletically--AND he's an attention whore.

What would REALLY be funny--and likely--is if Tulane is invited to the Big XII and Cowen turns it down.

This is a "leaked rumor" that is nothing more than a shameless attempt to get LSU to vote no against Mizzou. Even the dozens of die hard Tulane fans out there don't believe this.

regardless of whether anyone likea tulane or not I am not sure how one could argue that more money into the nola/la econmoy is not a good thing. especially the money that texas/tcu would bring in fan spending.

I don't think anyone reasonable doubts this would be a good thing for Tulane and New Orleans - fan bases that travel well would fill up the Super Dome and Bourbon Street when they played Tulane

But I don't really see a return on the investment for the Big 12

Exactly. The very same recruiting inroads into Texas that SEC schools hope to gain by adding Texas A&M would be open to Big XII schools in Louisiana if Tulane joined them. We have no reason to want Tulane to get into a more prestigious conference or make more money from conference revenue sharing, either. God Damn Skip Bertman for not letting them die on the vine in 2003 or 2004 when they were on the brink.

This is fun to talk about, but will never happen. Of the 12 CUSA teams, Tulane is hands down the least desirable. Even the New Orleans TV market is nothing special, ranked below Santa Fe/Albq.

Seriously, people would look at playing Tulane as an excuse for a vacation. This would significantly help out the NOLA economy. It wouldn't have that much of an effect on LSU recruiting, either. Just as A&M moving to the SEC will have little effect on Texas recruiting. Each team only gets 20-25 recruits a year, and there are plenty to go around.

It's not the worst fight song out there.

Here's a jazzy version of it that's not bad: Tulane Fight Song.
