The one from Missouri being Evan Boehm? If so from what I've heard and read he is still solid verbal and is angry about Internet rumors he has decommitted. I don't know for sure it's just what I've read.

Yea, Im not sure how much stock I put into the "rumors" about Boehm either. There are a lot of hurt feelings in KC at this point in time and some up there in the Media are fanning the flames a bit on this rumor.

Why would a Missouri kid waiver because of a conference change?

Its hard to explain the KC dynamic to outsiders, but, yes, I COULD see a KC kid decommit because of the move. I do not, however, think he will end up decommiting.

Interesting. I recently moved to Springfield so I'm trying to get the area figured out. I am guessing it goes back to the whole Kansas/Missouri rivalry?

Yes, thats part of it for sure.

Missouri is a crossroads state as far as culture. There are three very distinct areas of the State. St Louis really is on an island and has a much more northern or "old industry" feel and culture more akin to the Northeast and Midwest. Southern and Southwest Missouri has a more southern culture and the KC area along with parts of northern Missouri have a strong "midwestern/western" identity.

This dynamic has been playing hell on recruiting Missouri for Mizzou for decades now. The biggest hurdle for Mizzou has been trying to lock down in state talent. Kids from the different areas all have a varying opinion and of Mizzou and what its identity is depending on where they are from in the State.

Interesting to see how this plays out with A&M.

I'm sure you wish they would secede, but College Station is in Texas.

I heard he was afraid his family would have to travel too far to see him play away games. If he commits somewhere else though his parents will probably have to drive further to see his home games.

Yeah I think Mizzou will do fine recruiting from Florida as well as still picking up a few from Texas.

The exact same should be said for Kentucky but they do neither..

Because as Bobby Petrino said on Monday..."we lost some kids because they grew up watching the Big12 and wanted to play there". This will hold true especially for players from Texas. Missouri recruits had the advantage of playing Texas and Oklahoma schools so close to their native state (Texas). That is no longer an option and makes Arkansas closer by proximity with the same amount of games now. This is a win for us, OSU and TCU.

You are entertaining.

You have such an unabashed, objective and non biased opinion.

I think Mizzou should just fold up their football program at this point and call it a day.

Truth hurts. Missouri will not recruit Florida any better than Kentucky which isn't very good.

Missouri's Texas recruiting will be worse not better. You are either moving forward or moving backwards but you are never standing still.

You have a lot to learn about SEC recruiting.

No, your truth doesnt hurt, its just plain entertaining.

You have spent an inordinate amount of time "proving" how bad Mizzou will be in the SEC.

You have not once even thought about the benefits of the move for Mizzou recruiting. There are benefits to go along with some of the negatives. You understand that? Right?

You have an agenda, that's cool we all do, but you're not some objective soothsayer.

Mizzou will be just fine.

For the Texas kids I think it has to do with us being in the SEC East. In the West there are plenty of close SEC campuses that parents can drive to but not so much in the East. The sooner the SEC announces A&M as our permanent cross division rival the better in my opinion. That would help some being able to tell kids we will be down there every other year. I also hope we look at a home and home with a Texas school for years when A&M is in Columbia.

The recruiting will adjust but this year might be interesting/disappointing. One potential advantage we might have being in the east with A&M as a cross division rival is every year we are going to play a team from Florida, Georgia, and Texas. I could also see the Memphis area becoming a place our coaches target.

This is what I'm thinking too. If A&M is your permanent opponent and I am a Mizzou coach then I am camping out in these three states next year trying to make as many inroads as possible.

It is going to take some time for Texas kids to begin culturally feeling as if Texas is an SEC state as well as a Big 12 one. Until this happens, it will always be an uphill battle for Mizzou to pull kids away from "home" in Texas to a conference where they feel is isolated from family.

What some people don't understand is that many of these Texas kids have never lived anywhere else, and in Texas there is just a natural mind set of "there's no where else worth living". The thought of not being here at least for a few games a year is a far fetched concept to some kids.

I've been waiting on these benefits to outweigh the negatives. Why don't you tell me instead of dodging the question?

I'm just wanting to make sure I understand this..

You expect Missouri to get kids from Georgia and Florida yet Kentucky can not do that and they are MUCH closer..

How does that work?

You also expect Missouri to beat out Arkansas, OSU, OU, Texas, LSU and TAMU all much closer to the talent pool?

Serious question.

To be fair Sun Hog, Arkansas hasn't exactly been tearing it up in the recruiting rankings.

Nope, and we are MUCH closer to the talent pool than Missouri so explain to me how Missouri will be in the top half of the SEC?
